Captain’s log                               Stardate: 92112.7 (Dec 21st, 2017)

When I first came to know about this new eating place from my wife who share it in Facebook, I was over the moo–n!! Known as The Talking Cow, which is based of a well-known Thai Fusion Steamboat. Also known as Mookatta. Surprisingly its located not far from where I lived, about 5 minutes walk. And more surprising the stall comes from the coffee shop under a block where I buy my food sometimes. The entire coffeeshop is all Muslim stallholders, so no problem for this one.

Even blogging this down makes me feel like to go there for another round! =D

So me, my wife, my mum and my younger brother head down there. Was planning to bring the entire family. Unfortunately my dad was working night shift, my 2nd brother had to work overtime and my younger sister is coming home late.
Perhaps next time then. Anyway without further ado, let’s move on to the food.

We order the Combo Set, which requires a minimum of two people to dine in. It consists of fish balls, black pepper beef, garlic chicken, marinated sliced fish, tiger prawns, half shell scallops, New Zealand mussels, hot dogs, crab sticks, Chinese cabbage, golden mushrooms, broccoli, sweet corn and eggs. There’s also an option as part of the combo, where you can choose either instant noodles, rice or tanghoon.

And if you add $2, you will get a free-flow of soup where there’s three flavours to choose from: Tom Yum, chicken or singgang which is a sour and savoury soup. We decided to go for the Tom Yum, and also the fact that my wife is a big fan of Tom Yum =D

There’s also the Cheezy Cheese available on their MUST ADD-ON list. Unfortunately we were told that the mozzarella cheese had ran out and was replaced with Maggie noodles instead. Oh well, maybe next time when we came here again we be able to get the taste of it. I’m a big fan of cheese, seriously. =D

After much excitement of waiting, our gas-operated grill finally arrived with the platter of mouth-watering combo-set. Once the grill was sizzling hot, we pour in the Tom Yum soup in the pot, smeared butter on the grill and watch the food sizzle with our heart’s content as we place them in one after another.

One bite and I was moo-ing with delight! Its moooolicious!

Now here comes the best part. Their drinks stall offers Thai Milk Tea Tower. Yes that’s right, the drink comes in this 3 litre tower. The excitement on our faces when they bring out the towering drink. I wanted to try drinking from one for so long.

Me and my wife love Thai milk tea ever since we try them out during our honeymoon in Krabi. I read from a review from this person who had his experience at The Talking Cow. He describe that the milk tea was too sweet. True, as how me and wife had try it when we are in Thailand.

So as such we request to the owner of the drink stall if he can make ours with less sugar. He did not accept it at first as the Thai milk tea were all ready-made. But however he gave in to our request and prepared a special one for us.

Its been a long time since we last drank this….

As I had been here before, the stall are quite spacious and you can choose to seat anywhere. Take note that they only accept cash at the moment as they are newly opened. Best of all, there is no GST or service charge. The members there are very friendly and helpful. So in doubt, do approached them and they be happy to assist you.

My verdict: It was a mouth-watering experience and my family really enjoyed our first Thai Fusion or mookata experience. No regrets! Great food, friendly service with a relax atmosphere where you can chill while feast on a well-deserved hearty meal. Best of all, I don’t need to seek for a 3 litre tower drink elsewhere when there’s already one which is only one block away from where I lived! =D

The address is at 418 Bedok North Avenue 2. Its open from 5pm – 11pm, Monday to Friday. For weekends and public holidays it will open from 12pm – 10pm.

So do dropped by and give a try at this Muslim-owned Thai steamboat stall. You might be coming back for more =)
