A.K.A The Suicide Forest….

Posted: January 18, 2016 in Uncategorized

Captain’s log                                              Stardate: 90118.5 (Jan 18th, 2015)

Recently my girlfriend tag to me in Facebook about this horror movie she wanted to watch. At first glance, I notice that its about this girl running away from something in this forest. Where all seems so ghostly and such.

But upon further observation, I realized that its about this so-called “Suicide Forest” located in Japan. Its actually called Aokigahara Forest, located at the northwest base of Mount Fuji. Why its called the suicide forest cause of being a popular destination for the suicidal.

The story involves where this Amercian lady received a phone call from the Japanese police, informed her that her troubled twin sister is presumed dead. And she was seen going into that forest. However she feels that she can sense her sister’s presence and believes that she is still alive, she journeys to Japan.

There, she met a reporter who happens to know her sister. Together with the local park guide, the 3 of them venture into a no-entry zone of the forest in-search of her twin.

During the journey, she encounters paranormal sightings within the dense of the jungle. Hearing voices. Hallucinations. She was been advised that she will see things that is not there. All in the mind, as the park guide had told her.

Will she survive the night? Will she be able to locate her sister? You just have to find out. No spoiler here. Hehe… =D

Now talking about the forest. Based on its history, the forest has a historic association with demons in Japanese mythology, and it is a notoriously common suicide site. There’s even a sign at the head of the main trail, urges visitors to think of their families and contact a suicide prevention association.

That’s……far more than to be expected of…

It was reported that in 2003, about 105 bodies were found. Exceeding the previous record of 78 in 2002. Then in 2010, it was estimated that more than 200 people had attempted suicide in the forest. Only 54 had commit the act. Then in 2011, the most common means of suicide in the forest were either hanging or drug overdose. There’s also a saying that once you entered, you might never came out again. High possibly it could have a connection with the suicide case. Due to this terrifying incident, the forest was said to be reputedly haunted by the Yurei (angry spirits).

I notice that in the movie, they actually enter the no-entry zone. But on the other side was a trail. Could have been the actual trail, and maybe the safe zone.

So if you are thinking of entering the forest on your visit there, think again. But should you, do leave once it gets dark. And not to venture deep cause you will never know what you might expected. Stick close to the trail whenever possible. Or use plastic tape, or strings, ropes to mark your paths so as to avoid getting lost. As what it was done by the tourists visiting the forest.

As for the movie itself, I rate it an average of 5 out of 10. You know why once you see it. Still, its quite interesting to watch if you are not much of a horror movie type, but just prefer to see how its like.

“Remember, its all in the mind…”

Best Highlights Of 2015!

Captain’s log                                     Stardate: 90011.6 (Jan 01st, 2016)

2015 alone had brought me to face quite a number of ups and downs. Even the worse….

But I learn to move on, look forward for a better future. At the same time, I was also been given an opportunity. One of them is where I was been invited to appear in our local reality show known as The 5 Show. Imagine seeing yourself appeared on live television. This is a rare opportunity! Its fun and exciting and I had make new friends from there.

Also, had achieve in some of my lifetime goals. Making new opportunities. Like my Clash of Superpowers channel where I dedicate to all cosplayers in fighting characters. Its starting to become well-known and hope I can further expand it.

Meet many learning opportunities, going well with the love of my life. Visit a number of interesting places that I never once been. And each cosplay event I attended, I make new friends. Get to know new cosplayers.

2015 has been a decent and also challenging year for me. Till before the end of it all where I had make the intention for the sacred land to perform my Umrah (minor pilgrim). Not only to cleanse myself, but it also make me open my eyes to understand more on the history of Islam. I learn many things which I was once lacked in some. And I hope I still can catch up to more of.

These are the best highlights that has been happening and what has been accomplished. So here I go!

A VISIT TO IMH (Institute of Mental Health)
Date: 07th February 2015

4 Toku heroes and a Monkey God seek out their journey to spread the happiness and joy to those special people in need. All members from Pause For A Cause, our next mission was at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH). This is also in conjunction with Chinese New Year, and we are there to celebrate the festive joy with them while in suits.

The contribution of our presence there had also taught us a valuable lesson to appreciate the things in life and be happy of who you are. No matter how mentally and sick they were, they were still humans. Nothing is perfect in this world. We are there for a purpose. To make them happy cause we care and support their needs.

Located at Suntec City Mall, at level 3 between Towers 3 and 4, its Korea’s original and biggest chain of Illusionary Entertainment Museum. Its brand new in Singapore. It infuses and modernizes the concept of art into fun and entertainment. There’s more than 80 artwork exhibits and made “alive” with 3D painting, shading and drawing techniques that create visual illusions.

There’s 3D, Digital and Object Art. As part of Singapore, some of the galleries were locally themed paintings in addition to the other interactive exhibits. There’s even a Superhero theme. Batman, Superman, Spiderman and few others. Furthermore, there’s indicators on the floor for those taking photos. So that you know where to position yourself to had the best photos taken.

Its about a week after me and my girl visit Alive Museum. Located at Sentosa and also originated from Korea like the Alive Museum, the Trick Eye Museum is about shaping art technique in transforming 2D paintings and sculptures into 3D optical illusion. Based on the paintings and exhibits, you can complete a visual narrative with any of your creative pose.

Trick Eye is more family oriented. World of Masterpiece, Safari Kingdom, Star of Circus, Dream of Fairy Tale, Love In Winter and Adventure Discovery. There’s even a circus, right at the entrance.

Since its based in Singapore, some of the artworks were designed with elements of the country’s culture. Such as the horse-racing and the Merlion.

You will see yourself levitating. Scaling up the walls. Hanging on the ceiling. Defying gravity. Before this I wonder how they do that. Now I know why. Its a matter of rotating your photos. This applies the same for Alive Museum =)

Located at Sentosa itself. Ever since 200 years ago where it was first opened, millions of people have flocked through the doors of Madame Tussauds wax attractions. Today, visitors can now truly get up-close and personal with A-list celebrities. From movie stars, music, sports, political leaders and historical icons, reliving the times, events and moments that made the world talk about them. Those museum-style ropes and poles have gone now.

Based on the history, its roots dating back to the Paris of 1770 where Marie Tussaud a.k.a Madame Tussaud learnt to model wax likenesses under the tutelage of her mentor, Dr Philippe Curtius.

Seriously, they look almost so alive!

The most favourite cosplay event and loved by many is here again. Held in the usual place at the heart of Downtown East, Pasir Ris where the fun seems endless there.

We had our small team of Forever Red Rangers coming down! Me as the Mighty Morphin Red, Red Hawk, Lost Galaxy Red, Time Red, SPD Red, Ninja Storm Red, Red Mystic Ranger and Megaforce Red Ranger. There’s also both the Green and White Ranger, as well as Ninja Storm Yellow. But our group for that day were all Red Rangers theme. This marks the beginning of our very first appearance of Forever Red here.

Next, we had our Aunty Shirley who finally debut as the evil Rita Repulsa! The main nemesis from the show’s first season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. She had tailored the costume herself. And it was impressively done. Almost as close to the actual suit. We Rangers, especially me are looking forward to debut with her!

Our 1st Singapore’s Forever Red has commenced. We had engage our best photographers and volunteers that we trusted to assist us for the project.

My life-time commitment and dream project, Forever Red is finally achieved after a year’s wait. Its from Power Rangers, a special episode seen in Power Rangers Wild Force. Basically, its focus on the Red Rangers. The leaders from their respective teams, and consisting of the previous Red Rangers from the past. They united together in Forever Red. Eventually, it features as what would come to be known as the Veteran Red Rangers.

Thanks to all involved! This is the biggest achievement for us! And we really had lots of fun together. We will see each other again for future events! =)

The end of October marks the time of that yearly celebration where people, especially the kids will dress up as ghosts or monsters, craving pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns, some playing pranks, visiting haunted attractions, attending to costume parties and anything that scares for that night. Yes, its Halloween! The creeps and freaks will be out hunting and will creep you out and scare the living daylight out of you. Just for the fun of it! =D

I was invited for a Halloween Walkabout event at Clarke Quay by some cosplay friends. It has been 3 years since I last had my fun for Halloween. In Singapore is more of a costume or cosplay thingy. Its kind of rare to see kids here going from door to door asking for sweets or candies. Or trick-or-treat.

I had come as a werewolf. The last time I wear does scares the shit out of everybody! Hahahaha! I considered this to cosplay as the teenager werewolf from that classic 1985 movie, Teen Wolf which stares Michael J.Fox. More or less the same =D

What a fright night it was!

I had embark on a 10-day trip towards the sacred land in Saudi Arabia to commit my Umrah. Both at Medina and Mecca. I had went together with my mum.

“Umrah” means to visit Baitullah Al-Haram with a wish to perform Umrah. It can be done anytime but preferably during Ramadhan. Is in contrast to the Haji. You can called it a “minor pilgrimage” also. Its not compulsory but highly recommended.

3 days we will stay in Medina. The fourth day onwards we will be at Mecca, where we shall commence our Umrah practice.

It has been a wonderful experience for me during that 10-day stay. I had learn so many things. The Prophets, their missions, what they had been through. Insya Allah me and my family will come back here again.

I want to thank so much to the staff of Shahidah Travel Pte Ltd, as well all the Ustaz who worked under this company for taking care and guiding us from the start to the end. Its been great knowing you all and Insya Allah we will meet again in the future. Really really appreciate!

And within the group itself, its been nice knowing you all and we have becoming good friends. Insya Allah we will meet again in the future! =)
