Captain’s log                                                                        Stardate: 77913.2 (Apr 28th, 2014)

Quoted from two friends from Facebook:

“I don costumes for moments like this. Not cos of being “childish”, “no life”. When was the last time u made someone’s day?”

————————————————-

“You look at the kid, who is supposed to be at his lowest when receiving chemo or other intrusive treatment, smile at you when he sees his favourite superhero right in front of him.

That’s a feeling no amt of money can buy; for both the kid and the cosplayer.”

————————————————-

Something that we had find more meaningful besides being our hobby. You make his or her day. In return, he or she will make your day. We don’t go for money. We don’t go for fame. We, volunteers had devoted our lives to use our cosplay to bring what’s good into society. No obligation. Its all depends how you willing to commit, to use your cosplay appeal to bring smile for the charity, the needs and the less fortunate. Also, to raise awareness that there are people who care and are willing to make someone’s day brighter.

Just like recently, where eleven of us cosplayers from our Pause for a Cause community attended to a birthday bash of a 4-year old kid who was diagnosed with leukaemia. He had made our day as much as we had made his. He’s a true hero that touches our heart that its beyond words. Nothing can describe the strong will of the child. Though he was at this stage fighting his own battle, he still stand strong and smile brightly at you upon seeing his favourite superhero. It was priceless!

Then, that feeling of emotion just sweeps into you just as he did that. You can feel tears forming in your eyes. Sometimes you can’t help it when it gets too emotional. The feeling is just indescribable.

So now within our community, we had devoted to bring out our hobby of cosplaying to society for a good cause. Its not just about attending to cosplay events and such. But to commit that extra mile, as volunteers to seek out to raise the awareness. To show that there are people like us who still care, and willing to make a different in performing the extraordinary. From charity events, orphanage homes, a child’s birthday party or for the less fortunate. Reaching out them to give them the encouragement, the support, love and hope.

I personally am glad and honour to be part of this family. Also, this is something I wanted to contribute ever since I cosplay as a Power Ranger. Yes, I can’t denied the fact that Power Rangers were one of the famous superheroes around. But to me, for this extra mile, I had to push aside the fame and thoughts of money. Cause as been describe by one of us, that’s a feeling where no amount of money can buy. Happiness is free. You jus have to be there to make someone’s day by volunteering. At the same time, having fun while providing that extra smile to those who are in need. As said, no obligation.

Honestly speaking, I really learn a lot from this group, and from the events that we had volunteer. That no matter what, those in need are not alone. There’s always someone who one day will be there for them.

And from this family of ours, we benefit by learning and sharing that everyone who wanted to do their part in volunteering is always welcome. Cause we need cosplayers, who are willing to make a difference to provide that extra mile and extra smile! =)

Walking With My Tyranno Zord!

Captain’s log                                                            Stardate: 78120.5 (Apr 12th, 2014)

Finally! After nearly 6 months of hard work, I finally complete my Tyranno Zord cosplay. It had taken me that long and a lot of patience just to get it done. All by myself. Before I come into the exciting part, let me elaborate from the beginning.

Tyranno Zord or Tyrannosaurus Dinosaur Zord was a dinosaur mecha seen in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. As the name stated, the mecha was designed to look like the Tyrannosaurus, and was pilot by the Red Ranger. It was one of the 5 zords that combines to form Megazord. The other four were Mastodon, Pterodactyl, Triceratops and Saber-tooth Tiger.

I had taken up a lot of time constructing it. You can say, its a slow progression. Reason being, I was so occupied with my work and other stuff that it had to be delay. Another reason why it had taken me 6 months to get it done. Also, I need enough cash just to get most of the materials needed. Its complicated for someone like me who doesn’t owned a workshop, have the proper equipments and tools. Have a crew, who could complete it in a week or a few. All I used were just foamboards, cardboards and few other simple materials to create this T-rex that stands ab0ut 1.9 meters in height. The only crew is myself, and having it done in my own bedroom.

The main part of the zord were divided into 3 separation parts. The head, torso and waist. Before I construct it, I had done a lot of extensive research about it. Other than studying the actual zord from the series, I also look at some of the Tyranno Zord cosplay from other countries seen in Youtube. I was so intrigued and impressed by it, and this really urge me to make my own.

I started off slowly. Weeks and months passes, and I’m beginning to see the progress. Most of the time, I had trouble in deciding how this part should be like, and whether should I use velcro or snaps to get them attached to another part. This is my 1st time building such a mascot. But I told myself, I’m learning along the way. All this I had seen how other cosplayers and prop makers did theirs. So I can improve more if I’m gonna construct another one in the future.

All that hard work, patience and sweat finally pays off! With the help of my 2 siblings and a cousin of mine, I tested it, and completely satisfied with the result. The only problem is that I can’t bend my knees like the actual one shown in the series. The king of dinosaur legs are bended. I can only bend halfway. Any further I might ended up damaging my zord. So I leave it that way.

Here’s my complete Tyranno Zord! =)

Nevertheless, I’m satisfied with my work. And because it was been constructed by me alone, I am overall happy that I had actually complete it with my own bare hands. My friends, especially my Kamen Riders and Rangers buddies were amazed by it. And of course, since I’m the one building it, I’m also allowing any one of my Rangers to try walking in it. As long they are tall enough like me and slim-built, they can become the Tyranno Zord.

Just like other Tyanno Zord cosplay, it may not turned out like the actual one. Seems rather impossible unless you have the right tools and materials to make it accurate. But its close enough to make the creator feel happy and satisfied. Its an achievement for me as this is my 1st mascot to ever being constructed by me alone. The money spend on the materials is worth it. With this been successful, I can improve more in the future should I wanted to built more zords.

Now that its done, I can’t wait to unleash it into the open for a cosplay event! Also, looks like the Red Ranger got a pet dino to tame; should anyone of his pals were to wear it =D

A Special Day….

I really had to be honest here. Of all the Malay weddings I attended, the one I attended earlier is the best ever! Among all the guests there were the awesome group of Power Rangers and Kamen Riders, that comes together to celebrate two of our Rangers who are getting married. Yes, one cosplay as the Black Ranger while the other is the Pink.

Its a never ending fun! It was so hilarious at our side that a few nearly went havoc! Hahahaha! Ok, so much for that. But really, this wedding is something special. Cause of the people that were invited, the fun just never stops.

To both the bride and groom, I wish both all the best in this new journey of yours and a blissful marriage. A new chapter has opened for you and may this path leads you for a brighter future ahead. May you always remember the love you feel today, enjoy your time and and happy together.

And…may the power protect you! =D

An epic photo with most of us bring out our morphin devices. A genius idea for a Power Rangers wedding! =D

Calling Dragonzord Power!

Captain’s log                                                       Stardate: 79914.3 (Apr 3rd, 2014)

I’ve been chasing after this Legacy Dragon Dagger ever since it made appearance at few of the conventions in the U.S. Yes, its that awesome weapon which also acts as a flute that were owned by the Green Ranger to summon his mighty Dragonzord.

Thanks to a friend of mine who happened to order at least 4 of them, I can finally owned one! This ain’t like the original toy version of the dagger, cause this time it came as the actual length seen in the shows. Its diecast and comes with a 24K gold plated smooth look. So you can say it does comes with a weight.

It also features sounds from the original series when you press any of the 3 buttons. This includes the soundtrack itself! How incredible! The rhythm was so exciting that I can’t help playing with the tunes the whole day! Hahaha!

The actual price, as according to my friend who order it was $160 including shipping. Since he know me well and has been a good friend to him ever since, he decided to offer me at only $140. Its worth a deal! =D

The dagger won’t be selling locally at the present moment. But the Legacy Megazord and Power Morpher were currently on sale. Power Rangers fans here, especially those who are still a big fan towards the Mighty Morphin, you might wanna get your hands on the current ones. Cause it will be a long wait for the dagger to come flying here. Unless you want to purchase it through eBay, as the fastest way to get it. Besides, there are also other more legacy versions on the way 😉

So why wait when you know someone who can get it for you as long you got enough cash. Its well spend! Before this, I have to borrow from a friend who owned 2 replicas of the original dagger. Now since I owned one, I don’t have to borrow anymore. This is not just a Dragon Dagger. But a legacy version that really sparkled your eyes! I can finally used it for my cosplay.

Now that I’m happy, I can finally summon Dragon anytime, anywhere!! =D
