The Dark Side Of Sembawang Park

Captain’s log                                                                         Stardate: 70110.8 (Sept 22nd, 2013)

Its one of the places which is a far cry and rich in history. Located in the north of Singapore, this Sembawang Park was formerly occupied by the British forces where they had their naval base been constructed. Back then in WWII era, when they realized that the Japanese forces could get their hands on the dockyard, the British immediately closed the place down. That was in January 1942. However, for the following three years till 1945, the Japanese still used the naval base to service and repair their navy ships.

I had visited the place 3 years ago due to history purposes. The park has many interesting concepts with Singapore’s historical past. Mainly that this place was once the British docking base. The jetty, the pier, even the Beaulieu House where once accommodate for a David family.

The house was built in 1910s. When the naval base construction began in 1923, the British took over the house. It served as a residence for the senior engineers during construction. Also served for the senior officers during operations. Admiral Layton, the most senior Naval Officer in Singapore lived in this house for two years from 1940 – 1942.

Now its a fancy seafood restaurant where you can dine while enjoying the calmness and serenity of the park. At the same time, you can get a view of the ships been docked nearby, where it was once a British Dockyard.

The park is also surrounded by other places of historical interest like the Admiralty House, Kampong Wak Hassan, Masjid Petempatan Melayu Sembawang and Sembawang memorial. There are many roads there will old black and white colonial houses.

Now history aside. I’m there once again together with few friends from SPI. Apart from being a historical place, Sembawang Park was also the talk of the town as being one of the top 10 most haunted places in Singapore. Certain corners of the areas, namely Kampong Wak Hassan where people claimed to have spotted countless sightings of Pontianaks lurking within that vicinity. This includes Jins and even a dog-headed man.

Especially the infamous Pontianak, which was heard pretty often. Most claimed to have seen them lurking within the vicinity of the park itself. It was said that some of the trees there were best suited as a perfect playground for these bloodsuckers. Judging by the look at those trees, you could tell by how lurking it looks. Like entering a trap. As far as I can recall, SPI did conduct an investigation here many years ago. I was told that they do felt some presence and a sudden drop of temperature. One of the members even claimed that he had felt someone poking him twice on the shoulder!

Now years later, where one of us had posted inside our group page in Facebook. So only six of us were free to explore. We only have to concentrate on the park itself and the vicinity of Kampong Wak Hassan. Reason being cause we may hold an investigation on both places in the future. And that will be the second investigation after the first one which was conducted years ago.

We start off late afternoon. I’m surprised that some of the areas there still had construction on-going since I’ve visited 3 years back. Especially the road leading to Kampong Wak Hassan which is next to the pier. There’s a new path been built that leads to the direction of the jetty. Wide enough for a bus to go through. Other than that, it still held that nostalgia feeling which you just can’t help embrace it. The sweet smell of old times, and that wonderful mouth-watering aroma from the barbeque pits. Its quite windy and cooling as the sun sets. Feels like just wanna stay there forever. The serenity really helps to ease the mind away from the city life. Its just so beautiful…..

History may be in the history itself. Honestly I find it really interesting as I go about reading more. Seriously, you will never know what you might stumbled upon…..

Captain’s log                                                                Stardate: 78111.5 (Sept 14th, 2013)

Imagine, living in a world when every year, one night for 12 hrs, crime was been legalized. Murderer, theft, rapists, robbers, you named it, will infested the streets. Police and medics will not response to you. Emergency services will be suspended within that 12-hour period.

So what you gonna do? Especially if these creeps come crawling to your home. Are you able to protect yourself, your family, your home from this intruders. That night is their night. The street is theirs. None of you were to be out at this hour. So it’s your duty to protect your family and armed your place. With every guts and teeth and strength you have. Kill them if you have to!

Can’t you survived for 12 hrs? The real nightmare is about to begin….

Are you ready for the Purge?

Its a thrilling sci-fiction movie that me and some friends when to watch yesterday the 13th. Been looking forward for this movie. Now that its time, it felt like as if we are in the movie. Ready to face the struggle to survive.

The story was set in year 2022. The United States has become a ‘nation reborn”, with crime and unemployment rates hitting an all-time low. That’s why the government instituted this annual 12-hour period called “the Purge”. All criminal activity becomes legal. Apart from that, it was also designed to act as a catharsis for the locals. Meaning to say they have every right to vent all negative emotions and aggressive means to who they desire. Can be revengeful at the same time.

Seriously, as how I had viewed it, it looks more like a human hunting season. Everybody have to be in their home and prepare for the worse if that family was been affected. And the movie itself had focus on one particular family, where there live a rich home security salesman. He has made a fortune selling home security systems. Technologically advance and state-of-the-art that are specifically designed for the Purge. And you can say that his home is heavily armed that will sealed all possible entrance.

Emergency services will be shut down for that 12-hour period. None of them will come to your aid. The Emergency Broadcast System will appeared on television, sires started blaring, commencing the start of the annual Purge.

You are in a survival mood now. What you gonna do, when you notice a group of masked vigilantes approaching your heavily fortified home. You have the weapons at your disposal. But were the defensive system really fortified? Will there be more of the freaks coming? Its your call. Your decision. To protect your life, family and property. Throughout the whole night, you’ll be fighting for survival in your own terrority till the next day where the Purge will end after 12 hours.

Its a movie that takes you at the very edge of the seat on what its like to live in a world where there’s such an horrifying annual event that exists. If you ask me, its more of like a test. to see how far the surviving subjects can go before it all ends. Or most probably to let this freaks get pounded by the civilians so that the cops wouldn’t have to put up with so much crimes. The way I see it, does look dramatically possible.

Imagine using the civilians to do all the dirty work by every means necessary. Cause at the end of the Purge, it was broadcasts stating that this Purge was the most successful due to the record high number of murders, with stock markets opening high due to the release of aggression and sales of home defense systems and weapons. Maybe its really got something to do with that as a means of surviving the nightmarish and tormented night. Anything can happened.

So if you are a fan of survival movies, or anything got to do with struggling for survival, this movie is recommended for you. I give it a 50-50. Though not much action-packed, I still find it interesting though. Damn, I wouldn’t want to live in a corrupted world like that!

Captain’s log                                                               Stardate: 78823.6 (Sept 2nd, 2013)

Every year, STGCC brings you the newest, most rewarding, challenging and exciting news and products to keep you entertained through the weekends. It falls from 30th Aug – 1st Sept 2013. A different battlefield of fun and entertainment to keep up with that engrossed look for the fans.

Yes, its the annual most anticipating and biggest cosplay event on this sunny island. Once again taking place at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Center just like last year, it brings you what you need to know for this year. Fresh new faces introducing their work of talents and special effects. A new blast with a wide range of activities and awesome collectible figures throughout the line of booths and exhibits.

Apart from that, there will be an Iron Man Hall of Armor. This is a great news for Iron Man fans in Singapore! Its shows an exact replica of the Hall of Armor from Tony Stark’s Malibu mansion. There are life-size display, just like in the movies. Seven Iron Man armours, from Mark I till Mark VI, with the Mark XLII as the centerpiece. This is something really beyond words. Truly an epic exhibition from this year’s STGCC. Infact, seems like every corner there’s Iron Man. Like as though this year’s STGCC focus a lot on this epic armored character.

And yes, for this year’s event, I’m gonna be the American “Powerful” Ranger seen in Akibarangers. As I had describe in my recent post where I had custom made the American flag collar and belt, this event is just right! So here I go, as the American “Powerful” Red Ranger who was kinda naughty in the way. Hey, I just followed according to his characteristic. And for all I know, I might still ended up putting those poses as to how the usual Red Ranger does. Hahaha! =P

I can only come on Sunday since I’m working on Saturday. One day is still fair enough for me to enjoying the time there with my pals. Its worth the time then just to rot for nothing! =D

Frame 1 STGCC

Its not surprised that the people will still see me as the usual original Red Ranger. A Power Ranger is a Power Ranger. But then, the feeling of being awesome when this few pockets of excited people went yelling “OMG! ITS THE POWERFUL RANGER!” or something like that when I walk pass. Indeed, some do watch Akibarangers, especially that episode. Because of that, I’m happy that my American “Powerful” Ranger is a success! Ended up one of the American belt loops got torn cause its made out of paper on one side. But that’s no problem, cause I’m gonna change that to foam soon =)

Its a great day spend with a well deserved dinner at the end of the event. Thanks Victor for inviting us to Eighteen Chef. The food there was awesome!

And thanks to the people who had made this possible. Looking forward for more! =)
