Captain’s log                          Stardate: 64734.9 (Mar 25th, 2011)

24 March 2011 – In the blink of an eye, I turned 27. So yesterday the 24th was a Happy Birthday to me!!!! =) As I expected, my Facebook wall will be spammed with tons of birthday wishes from friends and loved ones. Continuously until the end of 24hrs where my birthday will end.

The day spend was worth it all. Truly remarkable! I get to spend some quality time with two of my friends who are planning to watch one of the current movie that just hit here by storm. Sucker Punch! So in turn, they decided to plan this as my birthday outing.

My friends were right about the movie. It really kick-ass! Sucker Punch, which stars Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Jena Malone, Vanessa Hudges and Jamie Chung, is remarkably an epic action fantasy that takes you into the vivid imagination of a young girl (Emily Browning) whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality. Its almost like, having to rely on those dreams, and which seems to be her only resort in finding an escape route. An alternative reality as a coping strategy. To escape from those that has been tormenting her. Its all started upon listening to a certain music, which enables her to listen directly. Listen to it with her heart. Open her mind to what’s beyond. And before she know it, she was somewhere. To a place where she will have to fight to face her darkest fears…..

Here’s the premise, been quoted from Wikipedia:

Set in the 1950s, Babydoll (Emily Browning), who was sent to a mental institution in Brattleboro, Vermont by her step-father, has only her dreams and vivid imagination to provide an escape from her dark reality. Unrestrained by the boundaries of time and place, she is free to go where her mind takes her, blurring the lines between what’s real and what is imaginary.

Although she has been locked away, Babydoll has not lost her will to survive. Determined to fight for her freedom, she urges four other young girls – the outspoken Rocket (Jena Malone), the street-smart Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens), the fiercely loyal Amber (Jamie Chung), and the reluctant Sweet Pea (Abbie Cornish) — to band together and try to escape from their captors, Blue (Oscar Isaac), Madam Gorski (Carla Gugino) and the High Roller (Jon Hamm).

Led by Babydoll, the girls engage in fantastical warfare against everything from samurai to serpents, with a virtual arsenal at their disposal. Together, they must decide what they are willing to sacrifice in order to stay alive. But with the help of The Wise Man (Scott Glenn), their journey — if they succeed — will set them free.

So literally, its an Alice in Wonderland packed with machine guns. Fearsome babes equipped with superior moves and stunts, packed with loads of armory. Kick-ass attitude, explosives from every edge of an angle that will blown you breathless! A movie worth dying for! You guys were right about the movie. Sucker Punch does truly packs a punch and it does blown my mind seeing each ground-breaking stunts. I just couldn’t take my eyes away from it! Extremely on the edge of your seat till you could even feel the tremors beneath your seat! I’ll rate this 5/5!

After the movie ends, we had dinner at Long John Sliver, before we spend the rest of the evening relaxing at VivoCity’s Skypark. A favourite place among many to spend their quality time among friends and loved ones. The sight of Sentosa across the island suddenly intrigues us. So we decided, at this very last min, to take a look around there. All we have to do is to walk across the Sentosa Boardwalk in order to get there. Now easy accessible by foot, especially for those who wanna catch some sightseeing while walking towards Sentosa.

Our aim there now, was to take a look at Universal Studios Singapore itself from the outside. I planning to have fun here someday. So at the present moment, I just have to be familiarize with the surroundings from outside its entry gate. Not to mention, the eye-catching Universal Studios famous rotating globe. Does brings back memories during a family trip at Universal Studios Hollywood many years ago. Nostalgia for me…… =)

We spend some few hours there exploring the place before we called it a night. The whole day on my special day has been worth fulfilling! Thank you guys, for bringing up this movie outing and that last min thingy to Universal Studios as part of my birthday outing. Its worth every quality hour spend. And those wonderful gifts that you had brought for me. Its fortunate that my side let me off yesterday. These days I had been working like hell, ever since I was place in this temporary position. Too much of it had even caused me to nearly forgotten about my birthday! But thanks to my colleague, who had reminded me. Thought that I never be able to fulfill for that day, since we are told not to take any leave for the moment. But luckily, we are given off for that day. Good for me, especially =)

So here are some of the best photos taken! =)

And once again, to all my friends and loved ones who had spammed my Facebook wall with tons of countless amount of birthday wishes. Really appreciated it lots!!! THANK YOU!!! =)

Yes!! Finally I had my Red Ranger suit back in my hands! One of the staff there at No.1 Costume had asked me t0 try it out to see the results. I can say its worth better looking and leaner than before. The saggy areas were been reduced. Well approve on the arm areas. Nicely done! Been away from me its like having my power been taken away and left me to feel powerless, temporarily. Yeah right! Haha! Too engrossed to my Power Ranger already! =D

Anyway, here’s the difference. Before and after alteration. I had decided to put this up for you guys to spot on. By the way, sorry for the delay. The suit was been collected on Thursday the 17th. Was been interfere with my workflow, thus had to delay for a while. But as promise, this is it!

To my friends who were asking for it, happy now? HAHA! And as promise too, that I will update it in my blog once the delivery arrives. Now your Red Ranger friend here is satisfied that his holster is no longer vacant =D

Though seems completed, do you guys think I should get the Red Ranger’s main weapon, the Power Sword also? Then maybe it can be fully complete! Haha!

This past few weeks has been like hell for me. Tormented, and felt like going to explode without warning. Though the work appeared rather tantamount, but the comparison of the workload was a far greater heavy burden that seems to be forever resting on your shoulders. Its like its never end! Seems like everyday the table will be infested with a garbage of something new. Cases come, cases go. And repeats. I’ve been temporarily place in this position, and as according to them, only for 2 months. So I have to endured within that period of time before been thrown back to my original shift pattern which I had find it more pleasant and flexible, since I had learn how to live with it. Though subsequently tiring, but not the kind of thing where you had to grasp a handful of load and just hold it there and wait for an eternity for it to drop.

Well, I better might as well get used to this one – even for that 2 months. I did learn something new though…

Anyway, earlier I visited this No.1 Costume Costume (Yes, it was written double) in regards to my Red Power Ranger suit. Its also the place where my Star Trek – Starfleet uniforms were been tailored. My friends were right. It needs to be alter, because it appeared rather loose from the arm areas. Seeing the photos been posted in my Facebook, you can tell. At first, I didn’t want to. Because been blizzard by doubts that re-tailoring it might damage the suit. But sooner or later I was faced with a dilemma. I had referred to the photos like countless times. Yes, I do appeared kind of bloated and out-of-shape. So I seek advise, especially from my friend who dressed up as the Green Ranger, as to what the tailor would do normally; should I were to send it for alteration. So I decided its time to do something about it, rather than leave it hanging loose. Professional tailors can tell, and the No.1 Costume is recognizable for me as my obvious choice to send it for alteration. The lady there who will alter my suit is quick to recognize once she asked me to put on the suit. Yeah, does require some surgery. Haha!

Nevertheless, my friends did pointed out that the suit still looks great. No doubt about it. I will collect the suit this coming Thursday. Hope it turns out good… *Fingers crossed.*

To The People Of Japan……

Due to the unbearable and heartbreaking news, I expressed my deepest condolences to the people of Japan who have lost their loved ones in the earthquake and tsunamis. We will pray and help what’s worth in order to restore humanity.

I too, have few friends working there, and till now there’s been no responses from them. To my friends there, please response once you read this same post been posted on my Facebook wall. As well as the miss calls in an attempt to call you guys. Your friends and families were very worried…(

The only thing we can do now is to pray and hope they are alright. Since Friday, Japan has been hit by what the country’s Prime Minister has referred to as the “unprecedented impact” made known within this early 2011. The world has responded rapidly. All our hearts and prayers will go for the people of Japan. We will continue to render every available help, every manpower needed. Be strong!

Singapore ComiFest 2011

Captain’s log                          Stardate: 64693.3 (Mar 10th, 2011)

I was initially supposed to write the story earlier. But my blog was been diagnose by some error and had to be left dry. So now it seems like its fully recovered (I hope…) for my next installment.

Comifest 2011 is a 2 days event (5th-6th March) organised by Full House Communications and TCZ Studio Pte Ltd, and supported by Comic Society (Singapore). Its a mini event, and absolutely free! Perfect for those who were just too engrossed and hungry for more cosplay event. It was also been collaborated with the Wedding and Travel event as well, as both were held on the same floor. Hmm….perhaps the lovely gowns might catch some interest from any of us cosplayers. And since the area was limited, we have to be careful not to bump into them. Especially those who carried large props.

I get to know about this last minute. Straightaway, I knew what I have to do. I’ve been waiting for this, and I’m ready for the go!

This event is mainly dedicated for anime fans. But there’s still be pockets of different cosplayers. You are sure to see some few police and military cosplayers, especially. Very hard to miss. Also, the website had stated, that the organizers invite “all cosplayers.” It doesn’t reflect, specifically as to which. So why held back when you are really engrossed into cosplay? Like what I did for mine.

Red Ranger has won the hearts of many kids, not to mention the girls, whom many did not expected for a Power Ranger to make presence. Well, cosplay has always been the unexpected, isn’t it? =D Even for my friend, who cosplay as Venom Symbiote, who is one of Spiderman’s most fearsome nemesis had make them to scream in shrill excitement upon seeing him appearing out of nowhere….

Also, as mentioned before, the reason why I go for Red Ranger is to dedicate to the kids. They will go wild upon seeing colourful superheroes and some may even want a big hug. Which I love the most! Hehe! I love kids! So why not! =P Besides, its always been my dream to become a Power Ranger since childhood. Memories flooded back to my mind by the time I put on the suit. But all this wouldn’t have happened if not for my friend, who cosplay as the Green Ranger. He had provided me with everything that I needed to know. Thanks Barry!

These whole lot of photos were taken on both days.

Even though its small and simple, we still enjoy the time and pose infront of the mob of photographers. Nevertheless, its mainly about us cosplaying, and mingle among our friends! That’s the most important =)

Even being the Red Ranger, I will still NEVER abandon my previous cosplaying. Star Trek, SWAT especially. I’m still a Trekkie, and SWAT is in ME! =D
