Captain’s log                          Stardate: 64334.4 (Oct 31st, 2010)

Its that time of the month again. Where you go trick or treating, wearing costumes for costume parties, craving jack-o’-lanterns, taking ghost tours, bonfires, apple bobbing, visiting haunted places and attraction. Even committing pranks, sharing ghost stories, and that includes watching horror films.

Oct 30th: This is where you will explore the origins of Halloween. Some would say, especially from this modern Halloween, where the ghoulish and ghosties, and other nightmares of long leggety beasties will go bump in the night. Rising up to fear the living. Fearful shapes and shadows lurking under the pale moonlight, and giving that ghastly glare that terrorize the night. Fearing those and everything in the blind darkness! Halloween returns once again, where the lurkers will haunt the living daylights out of you. What scary imaginations, to give the scared out of everybody. As quoted by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle – “Where there is no imagination, there is no horror.”

I’ll say Sir, your words are indeed, perfect for Halloween! =)

Anyway, members of the Singapore Paranormal Investigators (SPI) had taken this opportunity to be part of this annual fright night of the month, and therefore shall make their horrifying presence behind the walls of the Asian Civilization Museum (ACM). Its the same as what we had did last year. As according to our leading SPI Agent and advisor, last year’s population of visitors coming down to ACM for that night was a huge pack of over 9000. And by no doubt this year will be another success run! =) Last year’s Halloween I wasn’t there. Initially I was been invited, since I was a member of SPI too. But because we law enforcement officers were activated for that worldwide global leaders event, I had no choice and sadly, have to reject that exciting event. I was one of the officers been listed. Once you are deploy for this, you can’t never escape. Expected it to be done and deal with.

But not for this year. No way I gonna missed it! Besides, there’s also no huge event in regards to any of that. And thankfully, it falls right on my off day! If not, I will have to apply leave earlier.  Like I said, I don’t want to miss this year’s Halloween. And so on for the next year and the next. Unless I was been thrown into some important or urgent matters that leaves me no choice. Besides, I love to dress-up, cosplaying. So what do you expect more from a guy like me who was obsessed into these? =D

And speaking of dress-up, this year I will become a SWAT-Infested Zombie. Yes, literally a SWAT cop been infested to become one of them. How I get this idea, is when I recall of a horror movie I’ve watched before. I forgot what’s the name of the movie, but it does reminds you of the first-person computer game, Left 4 Dead (L4D). And other horror movies such as The Walking Dead or Dawn of the Dead. As what I can remember, this movie was made in the 90s. What used to be a peaceful town, was soon turned into an epidemic of hordes of zombies because of a virus that was spreading. It start off as an experiment that soon went horribly wrong. Once the zombies gets close to you, they will transmit this virus to you. Converting those DNA, all those cells, turning you into one. With such a desperate call, a squadron of SWAT team were call in to eliminate the zombies. Some few of them were too, were trapped in the horrifying rampage and eventually, were soon not like what they used to be…

So I was like…hey, why not give it a shot? All I need is to get a zombie mask and make my SWAT outfit really nasty looking. The mask itself, I had brought it from eBay. I really need to find a good, scary one, and eBay seems like a good place to search. Also, with a reasonable price.

For my SWAT attire, I will focus on the overall or jumpsuit itself. I’m NOT going to ruin my original wear. As such, I will need to buy another one from the same place where I had brought the first one. With it, I had torn several layers of the clothing from both the arm and leg areas. I won’t touch on the front and back areas, as I will had my SWAT vest draped over it. And I won’t ruin my vest either! Halloween is held only once a year, so no point of getting another vest. Just for the sake of ruining it.

Next, I will smear some red poster paint on the shredded areas of the overall. Concentrating more on the torn parts. And yes, it was meant as “blood.” So it will look like as though I was been attacked viciously by those hideous zombies. Tearing me apart. Slashing me. Gushing my blood out all over, before turning into one of them. I really wanted to make it look as bloody and gore as I can.

As you can see from the photo taken, you can tell from the difference. My original, as well as the vest will remain safe and sound =)

And so, the long wait is over. Before that, many of us had feel so damn enthusiastic, let alone how anxious for that night to come that we just couldn’t wait any longer! =D Especially me. First time participating in Halloween. In Singapore, Halloween is more of a dressed-up theme. Sure there still be some treat or treating around. But you hardly seen them nowadays, unlike those in the Western. So down here, its more to just fun and games, surprises and of course, to dress up as a character that suits you =)

Even before reaching the museum, I could already feel the sense of adrenaline, the thrill rushing in me and I just couldn’t wait to put on my blooded suit! ACM was already packed with large number of visitors. Majority of them were already in their costumes. I could sense that this is gonna be one hell of a blast for the night! =D

We will start “terrorizing” the galleries at 1900hrs, as been stated in the program where the public will encounter ghost characters from SPI. But the adrenaline in me is already rushing like boiling water! I couldn’t wait for this! =P

1900hrs: All gear-up, taken our dinner, been brief again, we are all set to go! From inside our resting room, we could hear the enthusiastic cries from the crowd at the main hall of the museum and we could tell that its starting to become an overwhelming rush! To be expected for sure, like last year! ACM will be crawling with all kinds of ghost characters. Not only from SPI. We will prowl within the galleries and slither out from the dark. We just can’t wait to hear those screams. He-he-he-he…

SPI gang, is now ready to shiver the living down their spine. FRIGHT NIGHT, here we come!

My God! Halloween Night at ACM was indeed, a blast! This year’s population of people coming into the museum seems endless! Looks like its even bigger than last year. So much of it that we SPI members, as well as other ghost characters were trapped in-between by the overwhelming swarm of excited crowds eager to take photos with us! Its the same thing when I dressed up as my favourite Star Trek character, which is the Borg. One group had done taking a photo, there will be another eager to post. Then comes another. All swarm around you. Everywhere! You feel trapped! =D But what can you expect when you are participating into this kind of event? Besides, this is also my first time been surrounded by Halloween party doers with SPI. It was tremendously awesome!! And I wonder if this is the first time that someone like me had dressed up as a SWAT-Infested Zombie for Halloween. Cause I was told by many, especially from the staff working there that my appearance seems kinda rare. Haha! Well, its Halloween. You can be anything scary. The newer, the more you’ll get attracted with. But I still got to admit, characters like the Pontianak (the Malay female version of the vampire), the Mummy, a series of Japanese ghouls, as well as Dracula still beats the odds. They were considered as Halloween’s best “troopers” to scare the living daylight out of you. And honestly speaking, I still couldn’t get enough of it! =)

The fun of “terrorizing” soon comes to an end. By then, it was somewhere near midnight. Yes, its been a fun, enjoyable and indeed, a fright night to remember. Its time to rest that aching back, sore feet and hands. Man, what a night! What a HALLOWEEN! =)

Close To Midnight……

Captain’s log                             Stardate: 64304.8 (Oct 21st, 2010)

Dull day it is. Primarily because of the transboundary smoke haze from land and forest fires that were blown from Sumatra, and now enveloping Singapore which has hit the unhealthy range. As far as we all concern, this is not the first time such thing happens, and so much of it has been a recurrent feature in Asia from the past few decades. Returning home from work earlier after completing my shift was like walking through a thick fog. I was nearly blinded by the mist, let alone how watery my eyes is. As a result, I almost lost my sense of direction. And few of my colleagues had reported sick.

Oh well, its better to leave this to the authorities in how they will settle it. Not to mention how this haze has become a hot discussion topic on the Internet. I won’t touch much about the situation. I might ended up saying something sensitive, and the next thing I knew I would be expecting some “big shot” coming after me. Most important, is the health, especially those with asthma. They will have difficulty breathing when comes to this kind of air pollution.

Anyway, I hit off into dreamland right after I reached home. Not only I was weary, but I was almost in a state of lethargic. So much of it had left me ended sleeping in my jeans and T-shirt. It has been one hell of a night! Seems like a ruckus that goes on like forever! And just when we thought we could hit the break, duty calls again. Its like every second! Well, what can you expect when you are posted in such a district? Forever a night life!

My time in dreamland soon ended and I was snapped back in reality. The time on my clock shown was: 5:45pm. That’s enough rest for me. And indeed, felt much better.

So the rest of the hours was trying my best to kill that boredom. So to speak, was the usual stuff I did. Check my email, update my Facebook, and spending that whole time watching the late Michael Jackson dance in YouTube. Yeah, had to admit, I’m currently studying his moves. I become so engrossed to it that I watch it almost everyday! I mean, who wouldn’t love those flawless dance moves, especially if you are his number 1 fan! =) His the legend, his the King 0f Pop, and were unquestionably the greatest entertainer. Then there’s the Michael Jackson Impersonators, mainly fans of his who greatly appreciate his music and therefore, taken that opportunity to dances and moves exactly like him. To be like him. And I could say, that majority of them really did it well. Indeed, takes years of practice. Even though he had departure from this world, his legend still lives on among the people who still love and remember him always.

So here I am, blogging this down. At the same time, listening to some calm and gentle music played on the radio. The time its close to midnight. Outside, the night sky appeared to have red clouds floating past. I wonder, was it going to rain? Or was it part of the haze? Not to mention how hazy it was along the residential roads. And the streetlights there just making it feel rather eerie. Like as though a mist clouding out from the Twilight Zone…..

Thought I heard a rumbling somewhere. Sounds close to being a thunder. Well, why not some rain then. So I can have a pleasant and cooling sleep throughout the night. =)

Gathering For Future Plans

Captain’s log                      Stardate: 64298.3 (Oct 18th, 2010)

When I received the email, I was beginning to think that this could be another one of those casual gathering been organized by one of our members of the Singapore Paranormal Investigators (SPI). I even though this could be a dinner gathering also, which takes place at Fort Canning Park. And if that’s true, I wonder if the organizer had chosen that majesty building, known as “The Legends” which sits within the hill-top of the park. If he does, then you can say that it was worth a huge surprised for us that he managed to reserve such an expensive place to dine =D

But it soon turned out to be a meeting, than just a casual gathering. If I had known any better, I wouldn’t have dressed so smartly. Anyway, about twelve of us were free for the gathering. Initially our plan was not only to meet at Fort Canning, but also to discuss about our SPI’s future projects and that includes, our outings. However, it turns out that there’s no proper place there for us to hold our casual meeting. And also, one of us were feeling damn hungry. And so, the meeting place was change to the nearby Funan IT Mall where we had dinner at MacDonalds. Simple as that, as long our hungry friend gets to eat something. That includes the rest of us who have not yet eaten =D

So there we were. Discussing about our club’s future projects and outings, that will be well benefit for the members to enjoy that opportunity. As from what I see from this meeting, or gathering, its too have been a great quality time hanging out with them. To have this bonding, at the same time to have that positive tight-knit relationship with the people that you can trust and work with. I always found this atmosphere relaxing, comfortable and definitely a sense of belonging. This is where true friends comes around =)

And when comes to every gathering, there’s always a memorable group photo to share =)

Captain’s log                            Stardate: 64274.3 (Oct 09, 2010)

If I had not came across the photo album been posted in his Facebook, I would be rotting at home the whole day. Black Tactical or Black Tech, the shop wear I had purchase my SWAT gear had set up a booth on the ground floor at Funan IT Mall today. This, also applies as in contribution to the new opening of their shop there, where they had shifted from their original place which used to be located at Bedok. They are making it centralized this time, as to be fair to those who lived in the West side of Singapore.

I came across the photo album from one of the guys whom I happened to know from the recent cosfest last July. Seeing them dressed up in police and SWAT attire really put me on the edge and thrills me to the max! =D Sorry for being overwhelmed. Just couldn’t resist that rush of adrenaline! =) Anyway, it was on Thursday that time. So I managed to get him by communicating through Facebook. I was told that the main event will be held on Saturday (Oct 09) and Sunday. I was busy on Sunday, but got nothing on Saturday. So instead of wasting my time rotting at home, why not joined in the Black Tech police force? =D Cosplay was been mentioned, and since I’m into it, especially when comes into SWAT, why held back? Besides, its been a while since I last wear my SWAT outfit.

But today, its gonna be different. I will not wear my jumpsuit, as I would normally did that matches up with my SWAT vest. Sure, we are inside the shopping mall. But seems kind of warm though and can be a lot more warmer if I had the jumpsuit on. Plus, so were the rest. All simply had their vest draped over them and SWAT accessories on.

Besides Black Tech, there are other booths been set up across the ground floor. To add in the fun, there’s also live performances on stage. One of them features Chiroru Hoshino, a 19-year old girl from Japan, and was named as one of Japanese Idols. She loves anime and games, and indeed, a powerful girl who just couldn’t stop singing! =D Her fans here just couldn’t get enough of her, and those wild cheers and screams really rang deep into your ears! Haha! Well, what can you expect if you are her No.1 fan. Not to mention, how many of us were so eager to take a photo with her. So anxious…..Hehe…=P You really got to admire her. And I really love that dress of hers. Furthermore, she really does catches much resemblances to that of any cute and adorable anime character. What more could you tell! =P

There’s also this hulking warrior from Final Fantasy, making his presence there. And of course, who can resist the thought when comes the time to walk around within the ground floor of the mall, like as though walking through the Hall of Fame! Those stares…..followed by…WOW!!! Man, we were like as though we are really patrolling! Like real cops! =D

Anyway, here’s the fun of it all! =)

The whole day was worth much fun. Good thing I came across this event. If not, I be feeling like as though I been stranded all alone on a desert.

Storm Hovers….

Captain’s log                        Stardate: 64263.3 (Oct 5th, 2010)

Time flies by, and with a blink of an eye, its the month of October. And by each passing day brings new stories, new resolutions, new ideas. For some, it will be unpack with certain surprises, situations unfolds, even doubts, like some tidewaves that never ends….

And speaking of which, not only the day appeared dull, but so does everyone else. It was like as though it was the Monday blues. Except that today is Tuesday. If you asked me, just about any day could be the blues. That’s if where you don’t feel like any hope of doing your work. Those routine tasks. Where the boredom strikes. Feel bored all over. Not much to anticipate or interested to get you feel preoccupied, let alone facing with the same crap every day. So you see, its not only falls on Monday.

And yeah, today feels like as though I just ran into the twilight zone. Seems like almost everybody were been caught up by this gloomy atmosphere. Not just outdoors, the indoors as well. And did I just notice so much worrying as well? I don’t know, its just that some of their expressions happened to caught my attention and that left me to wonder.

Anyway, we do as what we are told to. As been obliged, as what we are supposed to. The usual stuff, moving around within that 12 hrs to get the job done and return back home in one piece.

And speaking of dull, what’s up with some people nowadays? Though I’m aware that some people nowadays could be so mentally arrogant, unpredictable, and always wishing to complain time and again, there’s these pockets of them (more like within their own species) who thinks that the same three digits were like a 24hrs complaint hotline department. And ridiculously, when we asked them certain questions that is relevant, and that we needed to know for sure, they will arrogantly snapped back, claiming that we should know all too well and even, had one idiot telling us that we have no right to ask such questions.

What the F***! Are we humans too!? Who are they to judge us!? Since when there’s a rule stating that we are not allowed to ask certain questions!? Is vital, for that matter! If there’s the point, then why called us in the first place!? What a bunch of idiots! Especially calling us over a slightest thing, which is not even a matter of concern at all! And which makes us feel like total dorks in the end! Calling 999 isn’t a beeper!!

So much of it had left a storm hovering over our heads. The dull mood eventually becomes duller and darker. But even as I speak, what choice do we have? Cause the next thing that will most likely popped out will be a garbage of complaints. Some worthless piece of trash over a slightest of thing! What can you expect, as this is what some Singaporeans are good at nowadays.

For the record, some things are better left unsaid….
