Online Shopping…

What they say is true, that you are most likely to get addicted if you are a frequent online user when comes to eBay. Well, that’s if when you are loaded with cash. The things that you always wanted, couldn’t be located in your local shopping mall or elsewhere. But on eBay itself, there seem to have several of them. And those that were so-called “no-longer-in-production” seem to hold up there until someone claims it as one of their own. Rather unique, I might add. But judging by the way it looked, does tell us something.

In case you are wondering, whether I’m one of those so engrossed type when comes to eBay; let’s just say, I’m always had my eyes glued to the monitor screen for a long period of time. But seriously, I try not to get so overwhelmed into it. And most of the time when I was there, I always on the look-out for Star Trek items. I never knew this in the first place until local Star Trek founder James Lee, introduced to me that majority of the Star Trek merchandise he brought were from eBay. Frankly speaking, there is limited items of Star Trek been sold here in Singapore. There’s not much sponsor around to get those toys. Even if there’s the items been sold, it can be a tough one searching for the location.

So if you are a Star Trek fan, and really wanted to collect many of their toys, the only way to get them was to go online shopping. That’s when only you had a credit card and sufficient cash. Long ago, I do heard about eBay, but wasn’t that interested about it. Not until years later I came to realize about it from James himself =) Sure, there’s more online shopping where Star Trek items been sold, like Roddenberry.com and Intergalactic Trading Company when I had purchase the starfleet commbadge and rank pips for my starfleet uniform.

Seriously, I only purchase those that I really wanted. I always target those Federation starships. The action figures will be the later part =D So far, its been my third time I had purchase Star Trek toys from eBay. The first one was a collection of eleven mini sets of nine Federation starship, one Jem’Hadar attack ship and one Ferengi ship from Furuta company. The second one, was another ten, also from Furuta which I had brought about one month later. The current one, was the starship Enterprise NX-01 self-assembly model kit.

For that matter, I always go for the cheapest prize available. Furthermore, I prefer those with the tag “Buy it now!” instead of those that requires bidding. Unless, if I really needed that particular item. Once, I had successfully managed to bid a large scale model of the U.S.S Enterprise NCC-1701-E from the starting prize of US$15.00. I managed to increase it till US$25.00, and had to wait one more day where the bidding will ends. And this is where it gets crucial, as there will be another user who will increase the prize. If all goes well, with the prize remains at 25 till the period ends, the model will be mine.

But in the end, the least I can expected, another user had bid the prize to 40 bucks! Talk about the shipping and handling to Singapore if I were to accept the prize. Oh, just forget it!

I’m also on the lookout for other goodies as well. Mostly those that I’m interested in. Recently I had check upon scale models of the Delorean Time Machine from the movie, Back to the Future. Yeah, you could say I’m also a big fan of it. Its sci-fiction right? And didn’t once I’ve mentioned that I’m a sci-fiction freak? =D

Overall, online shopping at eBay is always been a breeze. But of course, I try not to be so caught up into it =)

3 Hot Spots

Captain’s log                          Stardate: 62565.1 (Jan 24th, 2009)

Just last week, stardate 62545.8 ( Jan 17th, 2009), the local ghost hunters had gone recce with another paranormal group to three haunting locations at Pulau Ubin. And just two days ago, on stardate 62559.5 ( Jan 22th, 2009), we set off for another recce at mainland. Indeed, the planning was fast! =o

Here’s the full report:

Stardate: 62559.5
22th January 2009

Members involved: (Nicknames based that were used in the forum)

icezzwan, sponge123, captain_24 (Me), skylian3001, pureformew, qR1985 and mikemyers2006

The plan was to meet at Serangoon MRT control station by 1830hrs on that day. Been established by pureformew, yesterday’s recce was towards the heart of Chuan Hoe Ave residential estate, where held the Japanese Cemetery. Frankly speaking, I never really knew there’s one in such a place. It is in conjunction during the Japanese Occupation?

As according to pureformew, one of his classmates has been possessed there. This happens when she was playing hide and seek with her friends, and was at that time she was hiding behind a tree. The gate was still opened, and believe the closing time is 1900hrs. It left me to wonder, why would anyone wanted to play hide and seek inside a cemetery? =o

But this is not the only place we gonna recce. We shall also recce at two more different locations within Serangoon New Town. One is at Sunshine Park which was located along Serangoon Ave. And the other one……let’s just say, I never knew that this would turned out to be so surprising. On the second thought, I had long forgotten about the place. Yes, a few of us had been here before. And that was one week ago. I never knew we would be back again. I never knew we would be back until skylian3001 told me once we’ve left Sunshine Park.

Its the abandoned Woodleigh MRT station which was built over a cemetery =o

Surprised, surprised. But I shall get to that part later.

We had our dinner first at KFC, which was surprisingly, a small outlet with only two counters and links to a coffee shop. While eating our meal, icezzwan also introduced to us the GPS device which he recently just brought. He planned to use it for all our ghost hunts, as so to mark where we had traveled. An excellent choice, in addition to his collection of ghost devices =)

And what a surprised to see that mikemyers2006 shows up! We never even thought he would be joining us. He’s the dude who loves to crack up for some reason. Well, he’s here though. Looks like we gonna have to adapt to his “natural environment” of lame jokes and crappy talks for that night. Hah! =D

Once we had our dinner, we set off towards the Japanese Cemetery as our first location. By then, the sky is already dark. The night, is full of thrills and chills for the ghost hunters…=)

Its quite a considerable distance if you asked me. Cause we are traveling on foot, that’s for sure. Hah! =D

Along the way

About ten minutes by estimation, we reached Chuan Hoe Ave. In the first place, we thought we are lost or either missed out the location. Here’s where the GPS comes in. On trial! Hah! =D

The map of the location been printed out by pureformew does comes in handy when work-along side with the GPS =)

GPS

We’ve hit the spot! We are right where we are. Got to get myself one of those toys. Hah! =D

Seconds later, mikemyers2006 pointed out a frame, been almost hidden by bushes located on one side of the road.

Frame

Looks like we are here…..

The cemetery is been surrounded behind this line of bushes. As such, pureformew had started scanning the perimeter by using the EMF for any sign of paranormal activity. However, readings indicate negative.

Here’s a glimpse of what’s behind the bushes.

Bushes

We continued walking along the path till we come to the entrance of the cemetery.

Entrance

Unfortunately, it was closed for the night. Well, that’s too bad. Unexpectedly, for us =(

But here’s some photos taken where we had our cameras slip between the grills of the gate =D

Gate Japanese Cemetery Japanese Cemetery Japanese Cemetery

Spooky……..

Seems to me that the whole cemetery had the perimeter been lined with bushes, as what we had observed when we followed the trail all around it.

Well, guess that’s it for the first one. Nothing much to speculate. If only the gates were opened, then we would be most likely to spend a lot of time down there =D Of course, nearby residents would most likely turned suspicious upon seeing us, and sooner or later we’ll be seeing those red and blue lights flashing. Get it? =D

——————————————————————————————–

Our next stop, was Sunshine Park, where we took the bus from our current position. Along the way, I was wondering, what was the history behind Sunshine Park? For some reason, I had to ask pureformew about it, since he happened to know more about it from the past news been published from the newspapers and the local internet. He explained that, a coffin was been found when construction workers were digging up the ground for the new landscape to take shape. Soon discovered by the authorities after learning more about it, that the place was once used to be a cemetery =o

So another hot spot was uncovered. Sunshine Park was formerly, Sunshine Grave……….

Wasn’t sure if the park held any possible grim side effect due to its previous roots. But pureformew had suggested that we should check the place out. We might came across something out of the unexpected…..

We soon reached the location.

Sunshine Park

A spacious landscape. A luxurious botanical design. A perfect romantic spot for dating couples…hehe 😉

Sunshine Park

This bridge below, where the coffin was believed to be found….

Sunshine Park Sunshine Park

We recce the rest of the park. And the only “out of the unexpected” we’ve came across is this…..

Sunshine Park

=D

Well, another fast game. Nothing much to discover about this park though. Just a splendid view been illuminated with lights when the sky turns dark =)

Pureformew soon informed us that he won’t be able to join us to recce the last location, as he had promised he be back home in time. Once he had left, the rest of us proceed on our way by foot. To the familiar place where a few of us had been. And this is where I began to realize, just by seeing the familiar route taken. Only then, skylian3001 began to tell me; yes, we are going there. Reason: Cause qR1985, icezzwan and mikemyers2006 had not been there before.

Ohh…its a wonder……

We stopped by a coffeshop to get a drink before moving off. There’s this lush of green circulating a field up ahead across the junction from the opposite side of the road. There’s a narrow road, that links with the main road leading all the way in towards the dark forest up ahead. A “No Entry” barricade were placed at the entrance of the narrow road. According to skylian3001, as she had found out, this particulr area use to be the bidadari or a Malay cemetery. The problem is, we had avoid to recce this area and just proceed straight towards the abandoned Woodleigh MRT terminal.

Well, on that night itself, we are going in…

Dark Entry Dark Entry Dark Entry

Even despite from the dark, I could tell from the looks of qR1985, that she had already sense something strong here. Even for icezzwan, as he can “feel” them when he strike his hand infront of him. Also, in such a way as to whether the spirits were nearby. From the looks if both, there’s a sinister feeling within this surrounding darkness. Something, seemingly that has drawn forward when comes to our presence. Even as one of those “non-feelers” I could already sense the taste of it. The fear that gripped you cold, that leaves your stomach tied in knots. Your heart raced. Your mind spin. That cold sweat that flowed down your face…

Dark Entry

Moments later, skylian3001 suggested that we should switch off our lights and to adapt to this natural environment in total darkness. Following the tactics that the ghost watch team had performed when we had our recce at Pulau Ubin.

Dark Entry Dark Entry Dark Entry

In less than five minutes, we turned back to where we came from. I was walking beside icezzwan, and watching him using one hand to strike infront of him as to feel for any paranormal activity while the other hand holding his camcorder. At the same time, he kept telling him that he could feel some strong vibes coming from his left side. This lead me to snap photos from where he had indicate; to the trees especially. And that’s where I came to a standstill!

I was aiming my camera to one of the trees. The camera had emitted a red light to auto focus when I pressed the shutter button. And it was at this time, from the red light itself, I saw a face!

The Tree

Where I had circle in red, is where I saw the face. And it was white. I’m telling you I’m not kidding! Seems to me like the camera only captured a “fragment” of it; cause it was only a split second before the camera flashes. Upon seeing it had left me to shudder with fear. Icezzwan advised me not to say anything cause he had already sense what I just saw. He just pulled me out of there and signal the group to quicken our pace.

We managed to head out, where I related my encounter. Just as I suspected, qR1985 had see the look on me and could tell for sure. I was nearly out of breath for a minute there. I’m telling you; what I saw is REALLY what I saw! =o

We moved on, towards the same place. The abandoned Woodleight MRT terminal located next to a field that was once a cemetery. Let alone been built over a cemetery…

Field

EMF readings were normal. Nothing much to discover. Might as well call it a night.

To add it, I was been advised not to think too much over what I’ve just witness earlier. Leave as it is and to move on with my everyday life.

Written below are the additional facts from icezzwan, been quoted from his “EveryTrail” blog page.

“9.31pm: We reached our 3rd location..The Infamous Bidadari Cemetery!! As we went in, I could feel strong vibes coming from my left side and I was on my guard through out this recce. Sis qR and Bro Sponge already have this weird look on they faces!! I kept quiet as I didn’t want to scare the rest and also since there were Bro Mike and Bro Captain the none “Feelers” in the group I wanted to see their reactions.

Somewhere at the end of the tracks we were greeted with a gust of cool wind!! I could tell something’s not right..I look at Sis qR and Sis Sky. Sis qR said we are not welcome and should go..Sis Sky agreed with her.

Bro Mike the “Iron man” didn’t feel anything!! Right to the end of the track, we broke into smaller group..2 by 2. Each group about 20 meters in between. The ladies, Sis Sky and Sis qR ,1st group. Myself and Bro Captain, 2nd Group( I purposely wanted to be in the middle just in case). And Bro Mike and Bro Sponge forms the 3rd group.

The ladies were the first to go fore. They were hold each others’ hands tightly. At one point they stopped and turned looking at me. I signal them to go ahead. As the vibes I was getting was stationery and not moving towards them.

The vibes were coming from this weird tree or should I say something on the tree branches. Bro Captain wanted to take photos and ask me where to take. I told him that tree. So he position himself and shot the pictures. Then he turned and I could tell he saw something. I told him not to say anything. I just pulled him out of there and quicken our pace.

I signaled Bro Mike and Bro Sponge to do the same. Out of there beside the road, Bro Captain relate his encounter. As he was pressing the shoot button..his camera emitted 2 red light to auto focus..it was during this time he saw a figure in white!! It was a split second thing and immediately after the camera flashed and took the pictures. I do hope he managed to capture the thing in pictures!!

Next proceed to Woodleigh MRT, abandoned sitting there like a white elephant!! We took some photos and decided to continue on to the Christian Cemetery. Sis qR was tired so Bro Sponge accompanied her sitting at the bus stop infront of the MRT Station.

There was nothing at the christian cemetery..EMF readings normal. Towards the end of the track we were greeted by a military like facilities. Bro Mike said it could be a NCC Corp Camp.

Then we turned and went back to meet up with Bro Sponge and Sis qR. I capture a video of a man entering the abandoned MRT..maybe a maintainence technician.

Ended the recce at about 10.30pm.”

Hauntings of Pulau Ubin

Captain’s log                          Stardate: 62551.5 (Jan 23th, 2009)

23th January 2009. Take a look at that. Time does flew in fast when you were glued to your everyday routine at work. Of course, this is to every individual’s life and parcel just to counter your needs. But I’m not here to highlight about that.

Just six days ago on stardate 62545.8 (Jan 17th, 2009), I was been given an opportunity to embark on a chance down memory lane which one I would never forget. One that I would have never expected to come true. One that would change me to become involved more deeply as I explored the possibility between fact and fiction. And what lies behind the truth, as I seek for the answer.

Stardate: 62545.8
Jan 17th, 2009

The local ghost hunters were set off for another recce. This time, its off shore, and situated in the north east of Singapore. This island is one of the last rural areas to be found.

Try and guess. If you have the answer, and that’s your final, then you are right.

PULAU UBIN

“The island is in essence, known to be the last ‘kampung’ (village) in Singapore. A stroll through the island takes you back to Singapore in the 60’s with the simple life. The island is a great day trip to spend walking or pedaling through the rustic roads under swaying coconut palms, exploring shady trails in overgrown rubber plantations, checking out secluded beaches and flourishing mangroves. The island has attracted attention for development and planning only in recent years, and Singaporeans visitors have been visiting the island for summer camps and outdoor activities for many years.”

It all started when one of the members named Nur get in touch with a friend who was a member of another paranormal group, who called themselves the Ghost Watch Alpha. Sure, there are several minor paranormal groups in Singapore, where they had formed one of their own through each of their interest and research in the supernatural. Majority of them had created their own websites, even had a forum based to discuss.

So, the day arrives, the member from the other paranormal group had requested from Nur, whether we would be interested to join them. Of course, as been one of the most enthusiastic type when comes to ghost hunting, Nur will always joined in. Provided when she’s only available =)

Our mission was to explore three hot spots on Pulau Ubin that was found to have reported sightings of paranormal activities. Strangely, all three of them were graveyards…=o

To me, this is something new. Something more of a suspense than just exploring the mystery. I found it tempting and wouldn’t want to miss it. Besides, I’m off on that day till the next day. So why not set to go? And…..obviously, you are right indeed if you had thought of this in the first place. We are going when the sky turns dark….

Furthermore, this is not the first time that the local ghost team visited Pulau Ubin. Based on what’s written from their website, they have visited many haunting spots situated in the island. Be it day or night. And I just happened to miss out all the fun.

But on that day, would be the fun I get. As I would be expecting it would turned out to be more than just “fun” itself…..

*****************************************************************

Before the recce began, we are been invited by another member in our group named Wan, for a buffet at a Japanese Restaurant, named Sakura which was located on the hill of Clementi Woods. (Ah yes, if many of you had read my previous entry: The Grim Side of Clementi Woods. Happened just two weeks ago where a few of us had recce the place due to report sightings of a Pontianak or female vampire) Wan had planned on the same day itself, and were schedule to meet up before 1800hs. It was the best buffet ever; I can bet on it. So mouth-watering that I nearly ended up with an upset stomach for eating too much…=(

Members Members At Sakura

I was been strongly advised that, if I heard someone singing or calling out my name when walking pass the cemetery, just ignore it! Don’t even think of turning towards the direction where the sound came from, or even asked the nearest member like, “You heard that?” Just looked straight ahead. Cause few of the members has been “hit” before. Following your instinct is one thing. Praying to your own religion is another. In hope that all goes well….

And just before 2130hrs, those who are going for the recce, which sadly, only four of us, left the restaurant and to proceed to Changi Ferry Terminal. Another member, whom we called him as “Koolad” will be meeting us there. As well as members from the ghost watch.

Talk about all the argument in which bus is the fastest to take us there, and whether taking the MRT is much more efficient, we landed there close to 2200hrs. We meet up with Koolad before making our way towards the entry of Changi Ferry Terminal where three members from the ghost watch were already there.

Paranormal Team

Paranormal Team

After some introduction and briefing about the recce, the leading member whom we called him as “Man” explained to us that, he managed to booked one of the bumboats that would only take us to Pulau Ubin. Personally, I didn’t even know that the terminal operates 24hrs…

Moments later, Man received a call from the bumboat Captain that will take us there, that his boat had arrived at dock. Well, here goes nothing.

Photos taken along the way.

Compliments from Nur. Thanks =)

To Ubin

To Ubin

Nearly fifteen minutes, we arrived on the island.

WELCOME TO PULAU UBIN

Pulau Ubin

Pulau Ubin

I’ve recently visited here about three times during the day. Now seen at this time of night, the island appeared more alive and bold by every inch.

We stopped by a shelter where it faces the tourist information counter. Not far from its right, was the police station. There’s a police land rover been parked next to the shelter we are at, and I believe that’s the only police vehicle that were sent here.

At Ubin

At Ubin

Amazingly, Man had also hired a tour guide that he had knew him well, and will happily take us to three of the haunting places we gonna recce by van. How surprising, indeed =D

After taking our toilet break, a little more briefing and applying mosquito repellent cause the island is said to be swarming with mosquitoes, we are set to go! I do felt some shivers in me; as a matter-of-factly. But isn’t this what I wanted? To be part of the paranormal team? I just have to take the bait and learn the truth on what’s out there….

———————————————————————————————

Ten minutes later…(By estimation)

We’ve reached the first location. It was an old Chinese cemetery found deep in the woods. History shows, as been explained by Man, that passerby, mostly cyclists had reported sightings of a lady who roam about in the grave. Be it in a day and night. Sometimes, the lady could be seen whizzed across from one end to another. In a blink of an eye. Witnesses could also hear someone crying, singing, even calling out their names. And it was believe it came from the lady herself. Not to mention, this is one of the many hot spots in Ubin that the SPI had recce in the past.

Here we go, all torches activate. The beam of lights swept across the grave as we cautiously stepped into. Tombstones surrounding us, each one of them were made wide apart from each other.

Chinese Cemetery Chinese Cemetery Chinese Cemetery Chinese Cemetery Chinese Cemetery

Somewhere at the far distance, faint music could be heard. According to Man, it was one of those Malay pop music that was mostly played in nightclubs. Well, I would be surprised if there’s another “music” been played….

It started to get chilling all of a sudden. Was it just me, or did the atmosphere getting colder? From all around, cameras started flashing. Hopefully we get “something” from one of the photos. Not to mention, the feeling of goosebumps all over you seem to picked up every now and then.

Moments later, Man signal to us to group back in a circle. This time, we were instructed to face our backs to each other as we viewed the eerie surrounding in the circle formation. Not only that, our torches were to be switched off.

We were now surrounded in darkness. This time to remain absolutely silent, and to rely on our ears. This is where, the haunting feeling was at the peak. At the same time, we were allowed to snap photos in the dark.

Circle formation Chinese grave Chinese grave Chinese grave Chinese grave Chinese grave

The faint music coming from somewhere in the distance was the only sound we’ve heard. But we still had to open our ears to hear “them.”

Chinese grave Chinese grave Chinese grave

The night air turns cold. A breeze swept across us. Sounds of crickets among the tall grass.

Is that a whisper I heard? We are completely silence. In total darkness. Will any of the spirits, especially the lady, approaches us? Somewhere in the dark; did I just heard footsteps? Then, something rustling behind the tress.
A wildboar?

Within five minutes, Man announced that its time to move on. Lights shine across the grave. Cameras continued flashing. We ventured deeper, and soon stepped into a new terrority.

And right before our very eyes, on what appears to be, a hut.

Hut Hut Hut Hut

It appears like as though the entire structure were completely taken apart. The inner roof look as though its about to fall in by its own weight. Puzzling thoughts about this structure clouded my mind. What was the story behind this? If there’s ever been a story…..

The cemetery ends here. Twice, we could hear something rushing behind those trees. Our beam of lights captured the movement of leaves, indicating that something just whizzed past. An animal of some sort? A wildboar perhaps, as there are quite a number of them roaming the jungles of Ubin.

Or could be………..something else???

Grave Grave

Roughly about twenty minutes, we head back to our awaiting transport. From there, we will proceed to our next designated location.

——————————————————————————————–

Our next stop, was an old Malay cemetery. History seems unclear, as to why it seems haunting. According to Man, as been gathered by witnesses, who heard whispers, people talking, giggling, even a shadowy figure that many claimed can be spotted at daytime. Furthermore, there’s also a kampung, located near the grave. Not known about this one, but we are about to find out.

Estimated about less than ten minutes, we arrived at scene. Once again, the smell of fear which seems to be at our presence is creeping among us.

Malay Cemetery Malay Cemetery Malay Cemetery

We soon came across a field littered with broken glasses, plates and bottles. Those bottles appeared to be like medicine bottles, by traditional used. Man had suspected, they could have belong to a bomoh (which doctor), by the looks of it.

Malay Cemetery Malay Cemetery Malay Cemetery

We survey the surrounding for about five minutes before heading out. This time, moving along the road in search for that kampung. It was said to be nearby, and has been abandoned for many years. Let alone, unclaimed by the ownership……

Photos taken along the way.

On the move On the move On the move

Didn’t took us long to locate the kampung, which was situated on the left side of the road. The lawn had overgrown, which had entirely carpeted the path leading to the house. Huge trees had shadowed over it from behind and both sides. Giving it a sinister appearance than ever before.

Village Village

We stepped into the house. The wooden floor creaks and groans beneath our shoes. It appears that many parts of the wall were been ripped apart. Cobwebs hang loose from the corners and gaps of the house. Parts of the house structure seems rather out of place. Could it be because of been deteriorate after all this years?

Inside the house Inside the house Inside the house

Leftover items seems rather familiar. Could they have been belonged to a bomoh?

Inside the house Inside the house

There’s a small steps, horribly damage, leading up to the deck of the house. The rooms up there were in a state of a wreck. Looks like whoever been here had left in such a hurry. Or perhaps, had deliberately and completely turned the place inside out. Were they looking for something? Or just damaging a hundred year old property?

Inside the house Inside the house Inside the house Inside the house

What was believe to be the living room, we came across some old photo albums.

Inside the house Inside the house

We believe that those families seen in the photos were residents that use to occupy this kampung. Where they were right now, and why they had abandoned their home, only God knows…..

We also recce the backyard. Discarded items were strewn all over the place. Nearby was a rusty shack.

Shack

A bicycle been buried beneath the grass…

Bike

Once done, we left the kampung. Here’s few more shots taken from outside.

Tree Kampung

We continued walking along the path from where we had stop. The air is getting kinda chilling all of a sudden. There’s some strong presence surrounding us. We could just almost feel it. Watching us. Watching us from behind those thick trees. Watching our every move. Seeing our thoughts. If Qr was here, she’s gonna ended up in a bad shape for sure….=(

So right now, are we alone?

Recce Recce Recce Signs

Moments later, we came across a shelter where we settled for a break. Finally, a moment of relaxation – in the dark. All lights were to be switched off.

Hut

Once again, we were envelope in darkness. We could only see ourselves as what appears to be like shadows beneath the hut. All were peaceful, until we heard this…

Tap…tap…tap…tap…tap…tap….

All of us remained frozen to where we were.

Tap…tap…tap…tap…tap…tap….

Our ears were opened wide. Listen attentively. Listen deeply. Our doubts grew. Heavier. I could feel my heart pounding fast. My mind raced. Those tapping n0ises, came from above the roof itself!

Tap…tap…tap…tap…tap…tap….

For thing for sure, it doesn’t sound like dirt raining down. Doesn’t sound like a rat or squirrel or some other rodents, cause they don’t “tapped.” Sticks falling? Leaves dropping? Stones? Its impossible. The sounds made were going slow, then randomly. Like beats playing on the drum. And going fast at the same time.

This is where, fear had gripped us cold. I’m not sure if the others had felt it. But I began to shiver all of a sudden. I ain’t kidding! From where I had position myself, I could tell how cold it is. I just felt numbed! If there’s gonna be an electro magnetic field, the device would have gone crazy! Worse, even my breathing turns rapid. Like as though I turned exhausted after been running long-distance non-stop.

Few of us had turned on the lights to catch any glimpse. Nur is one of them, who happened to saw how pale I looked when the light were shine on me. Worried, she quickly asked me whether I’m feeling alright? I explained to her what just happened. For once, I had never felt this strange of coldness before!

We hurried out from the shelter. All eyes were focus at the top of the roof. The series of taps had stopped. But the strong presence as to what many of us had felt still surrounds us. Something is definitely up there!

Hut Roof

One of Man’s member, whom we called him as “Wanmetal” (Wanmetal!???) had suggested that we should seated under the shelter again and see if the tapping will returned.

Once again, total silence. Roughly in just 30 seconds, the tapping came back alive from up there.

Tap…tap…tap…tap…tap…tap….

We hurried out. Focus back on the roof. Koolad had commented that, it could probably be the metal plating of the roof which causes the sounds, that appears to be aging for years. If that’s true, where does that sudden cold I felt came from? It definitely got something to do with “whoever’s” up there.

I was beginning to calm myself down. But the feeling of being “cold” still shudders me. Am I the only one who felt trapped? Mat himself thought he had saw a figure nested on top of the roof when the beam of light were shine up there. Due to the nature of the circumstances, we all seem to agree by one possible theory. At all costs, to conclude one possible explanation. One possible fact. If Qr was here, she will definitely had to agree upon.

Those tapping noise that was heard, and Man was saying…

“That has to be her……”

“She was here…….”

The “Her” and “She”…….

A sign of a Pontianak…..

Roof

The tress swayed by the sudden gust of wind. This time around, the night felt different. Like as though we are in a strange land that was never discovered from the face of the Earth. Pulau Ubin sure looked different at night….=o

There’s a dirt path near to the shelter that will leads us into the woods. We recce through it – as Man had suggested.

Recce Recce

At certain times, Man had signaled to us to stop when he felt or thought he saw something up ahead. And at one point, we were once again told to switch off the lights and to adapt ourselves to the surrounding darkness. To remain completely silence, and to see and hear anything, that is considered as supernatural………

Check out those orbs!

Orbs

Nearly 20 minutes, we head back to the van. That was some recce we had been. Sure, felt kinda scary in the first place. But this is definitely something, of an experience we are hoping for.

And so, we had completed our first and second objectives. Now looking forward for the third, and final hot spot. But before that, our tour guide will drive us back to the jetty, for those who needed their toilet break.

After exchanging some jokes, laughed throughout the night, snapping some photos, even receiving some crazy ringtones from Wanmetal, we are on the move again…

————————————————————————————-

Its a full moon tonight. Shining brightly like a gold coin. If there’s gonna be wispy of clouds passing infront of it, it sure gonna turns out like a horror movie. We reached the last location in less than 5 minutes. Somewhere, an owl hooted. Or was it, really an owl? Seriously, I would be surprised if there’s gonna be a wolf howling somewhere…..=o This kind of a night, is now their playground.

Compare from the other two locations, this one seems to had a much more darker chapter. As according to Man, we’ve just stepped into another Malay cemetery. However, this is unlike any other cemetery that was encountered. Majority of the residents living on the island were never aware of this location, let alone hearing one. Furthermore, this cemetery is unknown. No claimed ownership to verify. Its hidden from the outside world. Seemingly uncharted, and beneath shadows.

Man explained that recently his team had conducted their recce at this very location. Unexpectedly, there are welcome by two spirits, that left them numbed and shaken by fear from their presence. Worse still, one of their members had fallen sick, for about a week and had to be cure by using necessary means of traditional healing.

It was like, the ultimate horror lies within……

As been strongly advised by Man, as the same goes from the two previous locations. Stay close in the group, try not to make some noise, no monkey business and prayed hard that all goes well and that you are not harmed in such a way.

Here we go……
I shall proceed in details
First came sighted of a tombstone. Strangely been made to this huge tree…. =O

Tomb Tree Tomb

There’s an electrical outlet left hanging at one side of the tree. Turned out to be for the lightning use.

Tree

Upon observation, the tombstone we’ve discovered seems to be the only tombstone at this point. So why was it considered as the cemetery? Is there any more hidden behind those trees? It left me to shudder just to thought about it.

Then, here comes when we had to adapt to the darkness once again. This time, we shall seated cross-legged on the ground. As our eyes starting to adjust to the darkness, we shall observed for any sign of paranormal activities. To be completely silence, as to listen to any “sounds.” At the same time, photos were taken.

Tomb Tomb Tomb

In less than 10 minutes, we are up on our feet. With Man leading the way, we followed the road up ahead. Our ears and eyes still scanning.

Along the way, Man explained that his team had came across a kampung, that has a well located nearby. He wasn’t sure of there’s any historical background about the location. But what concerned him the most, is when the hairs at the back of their necks suddenly stands when came across the deserted village!

Meters away, we came to a stop next to several bamboo tress, that the top branches were bend low. It looked like as though we were beneath a huge umbrella. According to Man, this is where the two spirits were spotted.

Bamboo Tree Bamboo Tree

Now, the moment of silence….
Lights off. All seated cross-legged on the ground. All eyes focus ahead, where the spirits were found to be wandering…

Ahead

Man wanted us to pointed out, by using clock directions if we spotted any ghostly sightings surroundings us. Believe it or not, I never could have thought to experience such an encountered. Just few meters away, I spotted movements. Even despite in the dark, this “movements” were seen within clock directions of ten o’clock, eleven o’clock and twelve o’clock. In other words, it could either be the shadows from the leaves above. To anyone of you who were reading this, and if some of you had thought of commenting that what I just saw were simply shadows and that I had waste my time, then its up to your discretion.

For the moment, it appeared so. But then again, this “shadows” turned out to be apparitions. Simple shadowy figures that appeared to be hovering. Man had flickered the beam from his torchlight on and off spontaneously at the exact spot. I believe he’s trying to get a glimpse of the paranormal sightings. But I was been told, that the spirits will simply just vanished when seeing the light. Is that really what it was? Were those the spirits that the ghost watch had witness during their recent visit?

Series of orbs been detected at the exact spot. Could it be….

Orbs

Somehow or rather, there’s more to observe than just what lies infront of us. From my right at two o’clock, there’s something really bothering. Thought I heard footsteps, and some whispers. For a moment, I thought it was Koolad who was seated behind me. But he just seated there, observing what’s up ahead. I strained my ears again, and my eyes remain focus at twelve o’clock. Seconds later, I heard it again. Snaps of branches and sticks like as though someone had stepped on them.

Ubin

Worse still, we heard movements above our heads! Hidden above those bamboo leaves, something is lurking up there. It couldn’t be anything else, as by the impact it make against the branches. It was like as though someone just seated on it!

A Pontianak?

That “something” infront of us seems to be our most main concern. All of us, especially Man happened to saw the paranormal twist that had just taken place. He seems very observant into this. Perhaps due to the recent encounter might had left him rather persisted. To witness the darkening side effect all over again. Once in every few minutes, he kept whispering to me to remain focus on the three particular points from the clock, since I was seated next to him. In addition, I had to alert him that my two o’clock seems to bother me.

We were there for the whole entire 10 minutes – by estimation. We kept watch. Listen attentively. Concentration. Those “movements” infront of us were still there. And what appears to be, somekind of an outline forming ahead of us. It seem to send me the shivers! Is that what I saw?

We were soon back inside the van. Heading our way back to the jetty. Before I happened to doze off, there’s one particular member in the group who seems rather skeptic in such a way. A members of ours named Fuad, had somehow, suddenly, horribly (kinda) reminded him of……….zoo animals?

Nur had suggested that I should add a little humor to this log. Well, not to mention how Fuad had bragged about his wild imagination, that what he saw earlier is like watching the tigers, lions, zebras, you named it, that were still kept in tiny enclosures that literally bored them out of their minds. The dreadfully repeated behaviors, heads swinging back and forth again and again in never-changing patterns, beasts pacing back and forth until they dropped from exhaustion, what minds they had…….ok, I’ve said too much =D

We reached back the jetty. From there onwards, we spare the moment to relax ourselves. I settled back on a chair with a view of the ocean. The calm, peaceful wave, shimmering under the pale moonlight. My mind flashes back, as to what we have came across.

The first two locations does seem to draw a much attention for a deeper observation. To summarize, evidence of possible sightings may be relevant. The third one, seems to draw a much more darker chapter. Clearly, there’s something there, that is needed to be unfold – however subjective it was to feel that one needed reassurance in those darkest hours. In other words, even better if ghost devices, especially the EMF were been brought along. They could have “spoken” the truth…

I didn’t realized that I had stumbled into dreamland once again, and only to wake up seeing the orange glow shimmering on the sky. The dawn of a new day shines over Ubin.

As what I’ve noticed, when my eyes were fully adjusted, few of the members were chatting animatedly around a bench table, while the rest, including me happened to be on a first-class flight to dreamland.

We soon called it a day. Left the island, and were soon back on mainland Singapore =)

That was one hell of a recce on that night itself. Still, it left us a puzzling turn, as to this day, it remains a mystery…..

An abandoned railway

Captain’s log                            Stardate: 62542.6 (Jan 16th, 2009)

Besides being too obsessed in Star Trek, you could also say that I’m also obsessed in the paranormal. Just make sure I don’t ended up in the X-Files myself! =D Two passions of a kind that I counted for really keeps me going down the road. Something that I wanted to be for so long. But its not just from the name itself. Its the people, the members from inside that particular society. They always welcome fresh new people to be part of the organization. Those who held the same interest. Same level of passions. And if they have any new ideas, suggestions that was related to the topics, they will contribute for the group. To better understanding than what its worth.

And to ensure if any of my fellow trekkies (local Star Trek members) were reading this, please don’t be disappointed; I mean if you are. Cause I’m still strong on the sci-fiction side, and never been this happier to be part of the local Star Trek fansite =) And to contribute whenever necessary.

Come to the paranormal side, some people that I know had thought I’ve gone crazy to be involved in this weird stuff. And those people who I know, if you were reading this, call me “crazy” if you wish. There’s nothing wrong joining the paranormal team, where the local ones were. We are NOT like some of those paranormal society in the Western, who exercise on exorcisms or any form of occult magic, that sometimes can ended up been cursed upon. We do however, face certain consequences that will lead us to believe that there is more going on around us than just by observing. Even so, we do always, always remained at extreme cautious. Yes, in case you are wondering, we do had few of the members, especially from the veterans who had the ability to “see”, catch the “presence” that many of us can’t. But they will always remained inside the safe circle.

Ok, enough said. Now here’s my latest log entry.

Yesterday night, on stardate 62540.5 (Jan 15th, 2009), four members, including myself were set to recce another hotspot. Somewhere on the north side of Singapore, there’s an abandoned MRT underground station which was located within Kubur (Cemetery) Bidadari itself. One of the members named Nur had posted this inside our forum. Based on what she discovered, this underground station was built over the grave. The government had decided to relocate the cemetery to a new location, in order to make space for the new train line which starts at year 2001. Soon after, members of public began to witness sightings of paranormal activity taken place. Voices, strange footsteps in the night, you named it. It appears that the spirits were most likely been disturbed by this new environment that had taken over their resting place, and apparently, refused to leave. The situation falls back to the government, so great that they were forced to close it down.

Till now, eight years later, it remains abandoned. Like a structure long forgotten. Like a timepiece of memory. Now comes to the paranormal sighting, we are gonna find out.

Right after reporting off-duty, I straightaway proceed to Serangoon MRT station where the five of us were schedule to meet at 1930hrs. There, another member by the named of Alex, shall pick us in his weekend car before proceeding to the designated location.

Moments later, it appears that Alex couldn’t make it, as he had called up Nur that he was caught up in a meeting and will be too late if he still wished to join us. Therefore, we are on our own.

Nur happened to print out the map that will lead us towards the designated location. Since Alex is unavailable, we have no choice but to get there by foot. We are kind of lost in the first place. But after getting some clues by looking at the directional signs across and along the side of the road, we managed to find the right track. Took less than ten minutes to be accounted for =D

Its quite a considerable walked if you asked me. And moments later, we caught sighted of the MRT underground terminal near the side of the road.

MRT MRT MRT

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Woodleigh MRT station.

Woodleigh

As according to research that Nur had studied, the underground station was been built over a cemetery. No matter what and how the government did, it was believed that the spirits still roam the tunnel beneath. The entry was been locked up; to be OBVIOUS. The escalator stood frozen before us, and there, we could catch a glimpse below that leads beneath the Earth. The underground station, where the lights were seen, noticeably on….

MRT Drug?? MRT

On top of that, what appears from the other side of the terminal was a large open field. Large enough for your soccer or even a game of cricket. But little do many of us know, even for myself that this is not some ordinary field you’ve seen everyday. Its a spacious land that was once a Muslim cemetery….

Field Field Field

Less than ten minutes, we left the location and proceed towards the opposite side of the road, where there’s another MRT terminal. It was the same one, where it links.

MRT

The elevator in “MAINTENANCE” mode, where the word was been frozen across the LED. After all this years?? =o

MRT

Next to it, was another open field. And yes, use to be another cemetery. This time, we gonna survey across it. By walking along the path available, of course.

MRT MRT Field Field Field Field

Noticeably, certain areas of the grass patch seems to felt harden by the feet. Doesn’t felt like real or soil or bare ground. But felt like as though the grass was been carpeted over concrete. One of the agents, whom we called him “CS” had assume that, those particular areas could be a road for vehicles driving in and out. He noticed this by seeing how the angle the terrain was been established. Could it be possible?

More photos taken….

Field Field Tree branch Field Field Field Field Field

Based on studies, this old then cemetery use to be the Christian cemetery. It was not known whether it was proven a fact, but as Nur had stated, that was how it was describe.

Path Tree Field

After a while, we came across an intersection whereby Nur had suggested that we should split up. I admit, I do had second thoughts when ended up in a place like this. That eerie surrounding….the shivers I had felt….but then again, I had to snap out of it. Come on Ariffin, you are a member of the local ghost team! Ghost investigators need to face this every once in a while! So I took the bait. Following the path facing my left.

The beam of light from my torch swept the area as I survey in solo. Taking pictures along the way. I try not to think of any disturbing images I had in mind as my imagination were running wild at that time! Just within 50 meters, I heard running footsteps behind me. Panic, I spun around. Heart pounding, as I pointed the beam of light dead ahead. Appearing pale from the light, I saw a figure coming towards me. Shivers grip me tight, where I stood rooted to the path. I felt cold. Damn cold! The figure getting closer. I caught a glimpse of a white shorts. And this figure seems to jog..

Took me a while to realize that this figure, is a normal human being on a night jog.

Literally, there’s nothing wrong jogging at this time of night. But on this “piece of land?” Is he aware about it? Maybe he knows. But he doesn’t care…perhaps. I assume he’s one tough fellow who’s not afraid to jog in such a place. But he does freak me out in the first place! =0

Once I survey this side, I quickly joined Nur who had continued walking on straight. This side of the path, had many trees along both.

That sudden cold feeling comes back every now and then. Yes, the weather is chilling, but there seem to be another “chilling” creeping upon us.

Check out this markings been craved on the path. There were the indications of each cemetery still left behind.

Markings Markings Markings Markings Markings

The other two of our members soon rejoined us. After about half an hour surveying the place, we called it a night.

Here’s some “left-over” photos. Hah! =D

Field Field

We stopped by a coffee shop where we have our drinks as we debrief about the recce. Certain questions still held me back by doubts, as to what the government will do about the station other than leaving it rotting after eight years. Could what those members of public seen were actually the spirits that were from the grave? Does it ever appeared in the news before?

One thing for sure, there’s always the truth to be seek out. For the moment, it was still, a mystery………..

Captain’s log                             Stardate: 62531.8 (Jan 12th, 2009)

This happens two days ago. I should have wrote this down yesterday as I have planned. But was been caught up in other things.

Well anyway, two days ago on stardate 62526.3 (Jan 10th, 2009) was the moment that many of us were waiting for. Especially me, wanting to see the changes that had in-store for me. If you think that, that day was the Chingay Parade 09 Full-Dress Rehearsal, then you are absolutely correct! =D

All set to go for the day’s ahead. And what I’ve mentioned earlier that had in-store for me, was the day where I will turned into the hideous character seen in Star Trek that I had choose to become. Yes, if you are a Star Trek fan, and that you’ve seen the shows and movies, then your guess is right. For those who were scratching their heads as to wonder, let me kindly explained =) They called themselves as “Borg.” (Believe to be taken from the word “Cyborg”) They were cybernectic species whose hobby is to assimilated people to become their “friends” – FOREVER =D And their way of introducing themselves came in three words: “Resistance is Futile!”

Below is an example of Borg:

Borgs

Anyway, that day arrived. A trekkie, also by the named of James, or known as “CaptJames” as what many of us would addressed him based by his nick in the forum was the first to arrive at the People Association Headquarters. So I was wrong, as I thought I’m the earliest trekkie to beam over. Haha! =D Nearly an hour, local Star Trek founder James, together with his wife, Janice and trekkie Richard arrived with all the Starfleet uniform and props that we helped to bring them into the HQ. The area where we are supposed to gather were already packed with the participants whom most of them had arrived early for their make-up. Next to each of their make-up area were their wardrobes and other accessories to add with their costuming.

Then, the moment of truth…Er, I mean, the moment has arrived to me to put on my make-up. As been told by James, that I needed to put my make-up on first, since mine took the longest time to complete. On top of that, as according to James, I had choose the worst character in all of Star Trek, let alone the hardest in dressing up. Well, can’t argue with that, since I’m the one so “dying” to be a Borg. So might as well get assimilated at first hand! =D

Janice shall be the one in-charge in doing the make-up. James had once told me, besides been a trekkie, she’s laso performs in various Chinese Operas, if I’m not misatken. And that requires a lot of make-up besides clothing. Well, she can get her hands-on with that easily. A personalized make-up artist chosen for us trekkies =

While the make-up process been done on me, the rest of the trekkies participating for the event shows up whereby I could hear their voices at the background. Only two of them, named Robin and Fatimah were unable to make it. Robin was been activate for reservist, while Fatimah was called up for another event, I think. Well, too bad for me, cause I thought of giving Fatimah a good scare with my “new” and “improved” look. Haha! =D My friend, if you are reading this, let me assured you that I’m just kidding =) Anyway, both will be coming over when the big day arrived.

Look a lot more like a rotting zombie from the Twilight Zone..=D

Make-up on

Once my entire face been coloured, Janice began to attach the Borg eye-patch to my left eye. A folded tissue paper shall be placed behind the patch, as been advice from those who had it on before, that my eye can get itch from the glue that were use to stick the patch to my skin surrounding the eye. The tissue helps to protect it.

Assimilation in progress…..

In progress... In progress...

Next, came the half-mask itself, which appeared like a head gear, exposing the face. But before that, I need to put on my inner turtle-neck uniform that comes together with my Starfleet outer wear.

In progress....
Then came the Borg weapon. Better known as the Borg pincer where they used it for their assimilation and that it comes with a glove, were secured around my left hand.

Nearly half-an hour by estimation, this is what I had become.

Locutus of Borg
Finally, I was been assimilated! A Starfleet crew been assimilated – to be exact. Hah! =D Thanks Janice! You’ve done a great make-over =D
Man, do I looked like a freak, or what? HAHAHA! =D

Now, here comes the rest of the participating trekkies. Besides me, trekkie Bryan and Janice too required makeup, but theirs were simple enough =)

Bryan = Taken the role of “Commander Chakotay.” A male human seen in Star Trek – Voyager. He shall also held the flag representing the United Federation of Planets during the parade.

Janice = Had choose to become “Lt Commander Jadzia Dax.” A female Trill seen in Star Trek – Deep Space Nine. She was armed with a prop phaser rifle.

Jasmin = Taken the role of  “Captain Johnathan Archer.” A male human seen in Star Trek – Enterprise. He was armed with a prop phaser gun.

Stephanie = Had wear a full mask of “Neelix.” A male Talaxian seen in Star Trek – Voyager. She was armed with a prop phaser gun.

Franklin = Had wear a full mask of “Commander Spock.” Also known to be “Captain Spock” or “Ambassador Spock.” A male Vulcan seen in the first series of Star Trek – The Original Series and several of the Star Trek movies. He was armed with a prop phaser rifle.

Benedict = Had choose to become a Vulcan. He had those Vulcan pointed ears been attached to his real ears. =) He was armed with a prop phaser rifle.

Vera = An Indonesian trekkie, had taken the role of “Seven-Of-Nine.” A former, female Borg Drone seen in Star Trek – Voyager. She had Borg implants attached above her left eyebrow and one at the right side of her neck near to her ear, and was armed with a prop phaser rifle.

CaptJames = Choose to become “Lt Commander Geordi La Forge.” A male human seen in Star Trek – The Next Generation and from the movies. He wears a VISOR over his eye and armed with a prop phaser rifle.

James (The founder himself) = He wear a full mask of “Lt Commander Worf.” A male Klingon seen in Star Trek – The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and from the movies. He was armed with a Klingon dagger.

At the same time, trekkie Robin will dress up in a Starfleet uniform that were seen from the original series movies, while Fatimah wore a Starfleet Vest, that were seen in Star Trek – First Contact movie.

Sooner or later, I began to encountered some difficulty. There’s this tube, where one end was already been attached to the side of the half-mask. Leaving the other end exposed, whereby that part will be attached to my cheek. Inches away from the mouth. No matter how much amount of glue been apply on to it just to get it stick to my skin, I still felt it sliding down till it almost touches my mouth. This happens when I started talking, as the movement circulating within the cheekbones causes it to slip away, as what many of the trekkies had discovered. Then, Jasmin had suggested, why not get the end of the tube and hide it somewhere beneath the neck of the shirt. Just for the rehearsal. Indeed, a well-thought =) Leave it like as though the tube were meant to go down the neck. The rest of the trekkies seem to agreed by this, and Janice will try to think of something to get the tube really stick to my cheek when the big day arrives.

The excitement grew as minutes passes by. Cameras flashes everywhere as every of the participants draw in their best posed. Sure, we do have minders from our side. Two of our veterans trekkies, named Richard and Hee Sen was our photographers on that day =) And to add in, we also had few of the Indonesian trekkies beaming down to be part of our minders! Cool! And believe it or not, among many of the participants, we trekkies seem to get much of the attention. Especially with James in the Klingon mask and me been altered into a Borg. Kids stared at us with their eyes wide opened. One of them even ask me whether I had covered my face with floor. There’s even one kid, running away when I hold up my Borg pincer. No intention of scaring them, but many ended up screaming when I lumbered between like a walking dead…

And our CaptJames seems to having a good time of his own. He does appeared overwhelmed in such a way, that he even started dancing with those contingents that were required to dance for the event. One could have wondered: “What the hell is a Starfleet officer doing down there!?” Hah! =D

Well, check out some of the best photos that were taken from our minders. Thanks dudes!

Chakotay to be Klingon and Borg Starfleet Crew Say what? The crew Worf to be CaptJames detected Starfleet Dance

Lunch is been provided. Moments later, about half-an hour to 1700hrs, we were told to assemble outside the HQ, as the rehearsal is about to commence. The steps along the HQ were packed with family members and friends as they came to watch, despite been just a rehearsal. Alien appearance from our side does catches their attention to go, “OH WOW!” =D

It was a long wait for the rehearsal to began. While waiting, our minders took some snapshots of us and together with some of the participants. Not to mention, getting more attention from them. Man, are we Hollywood stars of what!? Hah! =D

Cheerss.. Starfleet crew Starfleet crew Starfleet Starfleet Alliance Engaga! Engage! Cheers

It was really a longgggg wait. Good thing the weather appeared windy. A moment ago, it appeared like as though its going to rain. Seems like, the display of floats that comes in various forms were the first to move. There’s a sailing ship, a cute caterpillar with shoes, even a lion painted in gold, giant toy soldiers; just to name a few. Were they on a test run? I couldn’t tell. Haha! =D

Finally! The rehearsal began! Our Star Trek contingent immediately forms into our formation like what we had practice a week ago. Our minders will assists us throughout the rehearsal.

Defensive Formation!
However, little do we know that we ended up in a confusion. During the parade rehearsal, we were told by one of the volunteering ushers to stop, as to let another contingent came through. Then, came another volunteering usher who he told us that we should have kept going. We was like, huh? Correct me if I’m wrong for those fellow trekkies who were reading this. But is that what just happened? Is that a miscommunication somewhere? Well, we are only left to wonder as we proceed for the next round….

And so, another longggg wait. The sky had started to darken. Once again, I’ve encountered another problem. This time, its my Borg eye-patch as I felt it started to loosen from my skin. Damn it! Must have been cause from the sweat, as expected. Trekkie Richard had rushed in to apply more glue which he had with him along the inner side of the patch. Then I had to hold it firmly in place. How long should I hold? Good question? It had left me certain doubts, especially from the sweat that still flows down my face. Not only me. Even Indonesian trekkie, Vera who had taken the role of “Seven-Of-Nine.” A former Borg Drone seen in Star Trek – Voyager. Vera seems to having problems with the Borg implant that were attached above her eyebrow. And the way she hold it firmly in place was like as though she’s getting an eyesore. Haha! =D Seems like, only the Borg were having some serious problems among other Star Trek characters….=(

Moments later, one of the ushers came to us and reminded us that the next round starts at 2000hrs. Well, guess what? It starts an hour later. Probably its because of the floats that were delay for some reason. At the same time, we also managed to explain what just happened earlier to one of the organizers. And so, all we have to do was to stay in the line, and just go with the flow.

Formation

The next round finally commence. The excitement blossom once again. The music cuts through the night. Despite been just a rehearsal, the parade were seen to burst into full energy! Our Star Trek contingent soon captures the excitement from the spectators seated at the steps. There are also more spectators from the opposite side. Watching the parade from behind the railings.

Never do I, felt this excitement come close in my life, as we trekkies started posing as cameras flashes right before our very eyes. It felt so heart-pounding to be inside one of the most anticipating event ever to be held. You get to know the people around. Make new friends along the way. This is our chance of once in a lifetime to experience such a phenomenal!

By 220ohrs, the rehearsal ended and we called it a night. We had truly enjoyed a good time and were all looking forward for the preview and the big day itself.

COUNTDOWN STARTS NOW…..

Grim side of Clementi Woods

Captain’s log                              Stardate: 62525.5 (Jan 10th, 2009)

Most of us, well……majority of us had more than one thing in common. Driven by the hopes, the dreams, the fact that we are subjective them as our goals, to do what we have always wanted. Especially to what we were addicted to it ever since we started learning about them. Like a career we enjoyed, and cherish that alter ego as part of your everyday life. He 0r she knew themselves well enough not to ignore such passion. Cause it was something more than just a pastime or hobby. But more towards blending with a team that carries the same interest as you are. The senior ones, rather the veterans had the answers you are looking for, and sooner or later, you gonna tell yourself  how lucky it is for you to be part of the team that was interested in what you are interested in.

Now here’s what I’ve got to reveal about my passion. Besides being  super-addicted to sci-fiction, especially for one who never felt that excited to be part of the local Star Trek fansite, I’m also a member of the local paranormal society. Their goal is to gather enough evidence and to collect data that will lead them to focus a better understanding in all paranormal under all categories including haunting. Typically not your average Ghostbusters, but a paranormal society that held a peaceful investigators that won’t stop in search of the truth behind paranormal. They also wish to better aid any individuals that were having problems dealing with or understanding a situation. As part of their mission by educating them in the true nature of the situation and to share the information in understanding a liveable resolution for the person and the spirit. Clearly an open minded to all theories and methods as this is still not an exact typical science. They lead with a sincere heart and a great passion, and always welcome people, especially those who have experience in these areas or research to join them as members. They have a website, as to inform the public about the serious study in paranormal. Not to mention, even a forum where discussion in aspects of paranormal were conducted. As much as I’m so talkative in the local Star Trek forum, so am I down here. Hah! =D

In other words, the paranormal team is a non-commercial, religious-free, politics-free and scientific oriented, as they conduct their investigations and present results in an consistently scientific a manner as possible.

Anyway, this one happened yesterday, on stardate 62522.8 (Jan 09th, 2009) Recently, I was been invited by one of them named Wan through sms, whether I was interested to recce with them at Clementi Woods. The catch is, there has been reported sightings of a Pontianak, a female vampire of Asian orgin or refer by many as “Cik Pon.” The sightings were found to be at public toilet’s rooftop, the platform stage of the woods, and especially behind trees. As for that matter, I’ve never been to Clementi Woods before, let alone the considerable distance that I had stayed which was in Bedok. About eighteen stations when take the train. Its located along West Coast Road, and only come to heard that there are tall mature trees and with natural vegetation. Size at 12ha, its a welcoming retreat for those looking for a quiet cool stroll in the morning or evening. More like, a welcoming spot for Cik Pon to seek her opportunity. hehe…=D Also heard that, there’s a restaurant located right at the hill top of the woods, known as Sakura. A Japanese restaurant, as the name states. Well, since I’m interested in paranormal besides sci-fiction, why not joined them in the recce? Frankly speaking, had always thought of joining them in one of their so-called ghostly trails and had missed out quite a number of them. So what am I waiting for!? The opportunity is there! Go for it! Besides, I get to meet some of the members that held a generous offer to those who are willing to join in =) In addition, I always had called up one of the local Star Trek member named Fahmi, who I stated in my previous log that he was also interested in the paranormal, in whether he wanted to join us for the recce. Unfortunately, he was on night shift at a hospital he was working. So had no choice and willing to try next time.

While waiting for the others...

We were supposed to recce the area at 1930hrs. Thanks to one of the members who I was told that he was usually late, we ended up recce the place somewhere at 2100hrs. Been played out within two hours, but the recce has to be conducted. Clementi Woods were brightly lighted up, something we could be at least expected. Joggers, couples, even those couples who “cannot get their hands on each other” were still roaming around in the park.

Welcome to Clementi Woods

So here we go….
Then, came the sense of smell once we stepped into the park. A kind of familiar musty smell, where mostly the Malays described it as the smell of  “cempaka.” I don’t know the English word to this, but it a kind of flower or fragrance where it was believe by generations worn by Pontianak. The smell, was intentionally to attract the men as her opportunity before she strike! Then again, did we just smell it? Or just the feeling of it? Or it is another kind that had the same smell?

Compliments from Nur. Thanks!

Directional signs The steps The entry

According to Wan, there’s a path leading up, that leads towards the Tentera Mosque after passing the Sakura Restaurant. Somewhere up there, is where it was mentioned, appeared rather grim. One of the members had stated before in the forum, that she had felt something eerie when she was up there alone recently.

After a short briefing, the recce was conducted. We followed the path straight down, before turning left and climb up the flight of steps. Right at the top, been built on the left was the public toilet. Right in the middle of nowhere….surrounding by trees. This is where, as according to Wan, was one of the few sightings Cik Pon were seen to be lurking.

The path Structure stands The toilet

Next, we followed a winding path down to the right, and you can see right in front of the public toilet. There’s a platform stage there. One looked, and had me recall, that I’ve seen this platform stage from the pictures been posted in the local website. Wonder if there’s any live band had performed here before? Or any other performance had taken place? Even so, does appeared rather chilling when seen at this time of night…

The STAGE!

Within its circular surroundings, were some of the best “hiding places” that Cik Pon can make use of =D

Dark corner Deeper grounds Something hidden...

Our cameras kept flashing as we continue walking up the path. Then, we spotted someone sitting on the path directly ahead of us right after we followed a bend. Turns out to be a lady, probably somewhere in her mid-thirties. Wearing a black T-shirt and jeans, sitting there with both of her legs bend in close to her face and staring at nothing. Curious, we asked her whether if she’s alright. She response with a smile that she’s okay and just taking a break. Taking a break?? Especially when one who happened to sit on the path with her back facing the forest!? Let alone at this time of night!? And speaking of her back facing the forest, there could be those whereby Cik Pon wouldn’t be lurking in there alone. There might be those damn rappist, waiting for the opportunity to strike! Didn’t she even thought about that?

Well, for once, I thought she was Cik Pon herself. =D Anyway, she began to leave. I suspect, that she might have some problems with her boyfriend or whatsoever. And thought by seating there in the dark with her back facing the jungle might give her a peace of her mind…

Next, we’ve decided to enter one of the circulating wooded area. This is one of the toughest one we had to bear with. Uneven terrain, tall roots sticking out, especially cobwebs, you named it.

We even faced certain obstacles such as this…

The log

We had to carefully cross this log in order to get to the other side. Moving at slow pace as we cross over, as this one appeared to be a little wobbly. One of the members almost tripped, resulting for him to trigger a vulgarity by accident. Oh great, cause once you are in this kind of  “places”, no foul language must be heard…

Cameras continue to flash. Using the lights that some of us had carried, we could see the opening from the other side of the woods. A moment later, I sense something that what many of us had called it as “Deja’Vu.” Seriously, I’ve never been to Clementi Woods before. But that strange feeling of deja’vu triggers me when I was snapping a photo on a particular part of a forest. Like as though, I’ve been here before….

Soon, we are out into fresh place. More snapshots were taken before we moved off again.

Back outside Dark side... Dark path

Soon, we head back to where Wan, and two more of the members who were waiting of us at one of the park shelter.

Now, here comes the other dark side of things. Little do we know that the surrounding vicinity of the shelter seems to bring in some strong presence. First, was that familiar smell from those nearby trees. Second, was this sudden cold feeling that few of us had felt. Compare to the one where local Star Trek member Fahmi and I felt when we were checking out the famous underpass, where always said to be haunted, that links from BayShore to East Coast Park last month, this one seems a lot stronger. I felt that I was rooted to the spot!

Not only that, Norman was rather uncomfortable about the shelter’s roof. I don’t really catch a glimpse, but as according to him, something up there is isn’t right…

The photos here were shown in both “Flash” and “Without Flash.”

More random shots were taken to add in more possible evidences if any.

Random shots Random shots What's that!? Something up there? Something....

A moment later, we decided to call it a night. Everyone of us seems okay as what I can tell.

Then again, what just happened a moment ago might have come to a conclusion, that Clementi Woods could have held a grim side. There are still something left behind untold, and which many would says, a mystery. There’s still a lot more for the paranormal team to search before finding out the truth. And the only way for me to find out the truth, was to join them more often. That’s only when I’m available =)

Captain’s log                            Stardate: 62511.8 (Jan 05th, 2009)

For the very first time in 24 years of my life, I had probably never, felt this excited. Never had experience the sudden rush that swept upon me. The adrenaline that rushes in me like boiling water in temperature rising. If you think that I finally found my dream girl after all this time, then you are WRONG! Hah! =D

This is about the upcoming Chingay Festival, which falls at the end of this month, few days after Chinese New Year. I had mentioned this before in my previous entry, and recently local Star Trek founder James had send out an email to us trekkies, especially to those participating that yesterday on stardate 62509.3 (Jan 04th, 2009), there will be a briefing for the event, been held at the People Association Headquarters whom the organizers had established this event. Last year, members of the local Star Wars fansite were invited to take part for the event. Their presence had caught the audience to scream in delight as they marched down the road like regular troopers heading for battle. This time for this new year 2009, its our turned to hit the streets. More like to boldly go where no man has gone before! This is, the lifetime and utmost experience for us trekkies to finally be part of the Chingay Parade!

Trekkies

In the email, and from the forum, for those who had tailor-made their Starfleet uniforms, like mine, were told to bring it along so that the organizers can conduct an inspection on them. And for those who doesn’t had one, no worries! James had a quantity sets of Starfleet uniforms available in all sizes, and can be borrow on a first-come-first-serve basic =D

Not only that, the audience of the Chingay Parade 2o09 will be in for a big surprise if we can turned ourselves as anyone of the Star Trek characters or alien appearance! How cool was that! And guess what, I had choose to dress up as the cybernectic species known as Borg. If you are a Star Trek fan, then you know what a “Borg” is. And if you are one, I’m not exactly to be a full Borg Drone that covers from head to toe. But a Starfleet crewmember that had just been assimilated. That means to say, I’m still be wearing my Starfleet uniform, and be putting on makeup, before putting on the half-Borg mask that looks like the one in the picture below.

Half-Borg Mask

To be frank, I always wanted to dress up as a Borg character ever since I learn about them. Now, I finally had my chance! Been “assimilated” once in a lifetime does brings out the “fun”, ya know. Haha! =D

But the makeup thingy will be done this coming Saturday, the 10th, which was the full-dress rehearsal. Yesterday is only the briefing. Even for that, the excitement were just about to be brought in. The weather appeared fine, and held a nimbus across the sky. A sign of rain, but doesn’t looked pretty heavy. Less than 5 minutes after I landed at the headquarters, James arrived together with another trekkie by the named of Hee Sen. As promise, James had brought an “armory” of Starfleet weapons and props used, including all the various Starfleet uniforms and masks.

Starfleet uniforms Props used Masks

Soon, the briefing starts. And talked about only just “briefing”, as what many of us had thought so, cause we were told by the organizers to wear our uniforms as well! The catch is, we were later told to assemble outside the headquarters and parade from one point to the end, while remaining in our contingent. This is as what we shall be doing for the preview and for the big day itself. As expected, I began to feel the temperature rising once I stepped outside the building in my Starfleet uniform. But clearly, I had to admit I looked cool wearing that. Its a little tight to the neck. But the tailor had design it perfectly just to fit me nicely after two alterations during the process.

Setting up

Setting up

But anyway, the s0-called “briefing” turned out to be a short rehearsal. Or so it may seems….. We’ll start from the line, then to the end. Then shall repeat again. Our Star Trek contingent was the last, been position behind the floating platforms. Wonder why……hah! =D Besides ours, the rest of the contingents does appeared colourful in turned of their vibrant and intriguing costumes. Many of them were believe to be similar designs as to the previous Chingay events. The participants had indeed, especially members of local Star Wars had performed admirably and turned out to be the talk of the town!

In our contingent, we had a flag banner, whereby a chosen trekkie will hold the flag that represents us, Starfleet, as the United Federation of Planets from the shows and movies itself. And to announced to the audience that we are members of the Singapore Star Trek fanclub as we hit the streets when the big day arrives. In addition, this is where the fun begans. One of the organizers had suggested, that the flag banner at a certain point during the parade march will started jogging in-between other contingents. Like the game of Follow-The-Leader, the rest of the trekkies will followed from behind. This will put much excitement for the audience besides attracting much attention. Good suggestion though. =) But of course, not all trekkies will jogged after the flag banner. Especially an alien character like me, cause a Borg never runs. From the shows and movies, they walked like a freaking zombie. So I have to do the same. Except for yesterday, as I ran around with the other trekkies in-between the contingents. Aiming and pretend to shoot at them with one of the phaser rifles. Really had a lot of fun doing that. =D And when comes to this Saturday, the previous and the actual day itself, I will start walking like a zombie. I mean, the actual Borg itself. Haha!! =D

Star Trek contingent Star Trek contingent Star Trek contingent March in March in March in

But the fun never stops there. The audience might want to take photos of us. Especially those dress up as an alien character and don’t required to jog behind the flag banner. We are allowed to pose and those had prop weapons can pretend to fire at them. How fun was that! And I can’t wait to try out mine! By using the prop Borg pincer that were secure to my hand, I can pretend to “assimilate” any one of the audience. Imagine myself, grabbing any one of them, and pretend to use the needle attached to the pincer and pretend to jabbed it to their necks. Just like the actual Borg themselves. But of course, advised was been given to me, as NOT to directly poke! Message understood, so does the rest of the trekkies, and try not to get too overwhelmed at the same time. =)

March along March along March along

The rehearsal repeats about five times if I’m not mistaken; with a break in-between. At the end of the day, which finishes at 1300hrs as according to schedule, we told ourselves that we had truly enjoyed a good time, and were looking forward for the full-dress rehearsal this coming Saturday. It starts at 1600hrs till 2200hrs, and dinner will be provided. Those required makeup had to be at the headquarters best before 1500hrs.

This time around, we are just getting started =D

Some random pictures before we call it a day. Enjoy! =D
